Ruffin, NC - Mr. Johnny Motley was born on December 3rd, 1940, in Pittsylvania County, Virginia to the late Wilford “Buck" Motley and Annie Fitz Motley. He transitioned from this life to eternal life on August 9th, 2024, at the home of his son Donald Motley.
Johnny was taken out of elementary school at an early age to help take care of his sisters, the late Elsie Terry, the late Shirley Ann Motley, and Wilhelmina Pointer. His brothers are the late Larry Motley and Sandy Motley. Johnny’s work ethics followed him throughout life. He retired from Burlington Industries after 26 years. During that time, he was a tobacco farmer in Caswell County. In later years, Johnny was known for picking people up and taking them to their place of business. He was a friend around town. When he wasn’t out and about in town, you could catch him watching westerns, The Price is Right, and Wheel of Fortune.
He is preceded in death by his wife Tressie Dillard Motley and together they had seven children. Roy Motley of Reidsville, NC, Donald Motley of Ruffin, NC, Dennis Motley (Shirley Motley) Reidsville, NC, Michael Motley, Chesapeake, Virginia, Terry Motley, Austin Texas, Lisa Price, Greensboro, NC, Sharon M. Fikes, Reidsville, NC. Johnny had a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews to cherish his memories. His legacy of family will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to have experienced his calm demeanor and helping hand.
Public viewing for Mr. Johnny Motley will be Wednesday, August 14, 2024, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.
Family visitation will be from 11:00 am to 12 Noon before funeral service.
Funeral services for Mr. Johnny Motley will be conducted at 12 Noon on Thursday, August 15, 2024, in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.
Interment will follow at Fitz Memorial Garden Cemetery 2540 Hunter Lane Blairs, Va.
