Martinsville, Va. - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Deacon Joseph Calvin McCullough, Sr. of 187 Machinery Drive Martinsville, Virginia. He passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024; at Roanoke Carilion Memorial Hospital, in Roanoke, Virginia.
Joseph was born on November 01, 1948, to the late Llard W. McCullough and Janie Holmes McCullough in Florence, South Carolina. His family moved to Stoneville, North Carolina, where he took up residency in Rockingham, County. Joseph worked in the Dye House at Tultex Corporation in Martinsville, Virginia, while working part-time at Spencer’s Garage in Stoneville, North Carolina. He also worked at Gibson Garage and Tuck Shoe Clinic in the Eden and Reidsville locations all prior to his retirement.
He was a faithful member of the Judah House of Worship in Danville, Virginia, where he loved and served his church in many capacities. Joseph was the Pastor’s armorbearer, a deacon, an usher, a parking ministry leader, and a kitchen committee member. He also was a member of the Madison Masonic Lodge #563, and his favorite pastime was being in the garden.
In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his sister, Clara Dalton; and his two brothers, Samuel and Clarence McCullough.
Deacon Joseph Calvin McCullough, Sr. leaves to cherish his memories with his wife, Mary Wade McCullough; a son, Joseph Calvin McCullough, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia; a stepson, Andre Hairston of Martinsville, Virginia; reared as his daughter, Kayle Wade of Eden, North Carolina; three sisters, Emma Stain, Claudine McCullough, and Gwendolyn Belthrop (Tommy) all of Stoneville, North Carolina; his brother, William McCullough (Carolyn) of Stoneville, North Carolina; a sister-ln-Law, Letricia McCullough; an adopted aunt, Mary Jane Wade of Martinsville, Virginia; three grandchildren, Tatyanna McCullough, Trey'von Via, and Danielle Via; one great grandchild, Graclyn Via; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and many cherished friends.
A Public viewing for Deacon Joseph McCullough will be on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Fulton-Walton Memorial Chapel; 417 Price Street, Eden, NC.
A Family visitation for Deacon Joseph McCullough will be on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at The Judah House of Worship, in Danville, Virginia
Funeral Services for Deacon Joseph McCullough will be conducted at 1:00pm on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at The Judah House of Worship, in Danville, Virginia
