Mr. Larry " Skipper" Johnson Obituary

Reidsville, NC - Mr. Larry Al Johnson, affectionately known as “Skipper,” of Reidsville, North Carolina, peacefully transitioned from labor to reward on March 23, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, dedication, and love that will forever be cherished by those who knew him.

Born on December 5, 1954, in Caswell County, North Carolina, Larry was the beloved son of the late Mr. William Albert Johnson, Sr. and Mrs. Monnie Louise Lea Johnson. From humble beginnings, he was raised with strong values that guided his life and steadfast commitment to his family and community.

Larry devoted many years of faithful service as an Electronic Technician before retiring from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, Asheboro, North Carolina where he was respected for his strong work ethic, skill, and reliability. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Larry’s true fulfillment was found in his service to God, his family and others.

He was a  member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Reidsville, where he faithfully served as a trustee and was an active member of the United Methodist Men. Whether through his church, his work, or his family, Larry exemplified what it meant to live a life of purpose. He was a graduate of Bartlett Yancey High School and later attended Randolph Community College.

Larry was married to Julie Randolph Johnson, with whom he shared a bond of love, partnership, and enduring commitment.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, John Frank Johnson, George Johnson, and William Albert Johnson, Jr.; and one sister, Ethel Annette Johnson.

Larry leaves to cherish his precious memory: his devoted wife, Julie Randolph Johnson of the home; one son, Alex Malachi Johnson (Franchesca); four daughters, Taylor Woodyard (Ronald) of Portsmouth, Virginia, Crystal Jeffries of Greensboro, North Carolina, Brie Johnson-Thacker (Desmond) of Brown Summit, North Carolina, and Zymia McCrimmon Johnson of Burlington, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Xavier Vann (Brittney), Jamarie Jeffries, Jaiden Jeffries, Josiah Johnson, and Aiden Johnson; and one great-grandchild, Christian Vann.

Larry is also lovingly remembered by his six brothers: Quinton Johnson (Mary), Joseph Johnson (Tracey), Vernon Johnson (Diane), and Carl Johnson (Michelle), all of Yanceyville, North Carolina, and James Hunter Johnson (Candy) of Eden, North Carolina; five sisters: Ingretta Totten (Carlton), Apostle Alice Totten, Betty Izetta Thomas (William), Carole Johnson, all of Yanceyville, North Carolina, and Margie Johnson of Burlington, North Carolina; his father-in-law, Nathan Raines of West Palm Beach, Florida; sisters-in-law: Janet Gwynn (Ricky) of Yanceyville, North Carolina, Wanda Barber of Greensboro, North Carolina, Wendy Warren (Kevin) of Kernersville, North Carolina, Lorie Tate (Phillip) of West Palm Beach, Florida, Diane Raines of Cleveland, Ohio, and Judy Raines of Alexandria, Egypt; three brothers-in-law, Desmond Mohammed,  Keith Mohammed  both of Youngstown, Ohio, and Eric Mohammed (Veronica) of Charlotte, North Carolina; and one devoted goddaughter, Shonette Pettiford (Barry) of Brown Summit, North Carolina; two special friends Michael Cheek "Chico" and Kitt Chi of Asheboro, North Carolina; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

Larry’s life was a testament to faith, perseverance, and love. Though he has departed from this earthly life, his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
