Mr. McArthur Graves (Rabbit), 81, of Yanceyville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully Friday, June 13, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of quiet strength, unwavering love, and a heart devoted to faith, family, and service.
Born on March 12, 1944, in Caswell County, McArthur was the son of the late Ressie Watlington Graves and George Hugh Graves. He was baptized at Jones Cross Road Church and later moved his membership to Blackwell Baptist Church, where he continued to serve and worship.
McArthur attended Caswell County Schools and spent over 40 years working faithfully at Burlington Industries before retiring. A man of strong work ethic and integrity, he provided not only for his family but also for others in his community, always offering help with kindness and never a complaint.
On November 20, 1976, McArthur married the love of his life, Mable Totten. Together, they built a loving home centered on faith, music, and family. McArthur had a deep love for music and enjoyed playing both the piano and guitar, often using his musical gifts to uplift and bring joy to others.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Mable Graves of Yanceyville; his son, Corey Lee Graves Sr. (Tammy) of Gibsonville; and his daughter, Torie Paylor of Burlington. He is also survived by his sister, Ruby Price of Burlington, NC; mother-in-law, Mrs. Jessie Poteat Totten of Reidsville, NC, and his special friend and brother-in-law, Sanford Brown; sisters-in-law, Helen Graves, Patrice Graves, Ollie Graves, Linda Brown, and Brenda Totten.
A proud grandfather, McArthur leaves behind Dana Ridge, Troy Paylor (Caitlyn), Nakiya Graves, Corey Graves Jr., Kevin Paylor, and Michael Paylor. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Myla Lopez, Avery Graves, and Ariel Higgins.
In addition to his parents, McArthur was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Dustin Ridge; his brothers Joe, Henry, Isiah, Hugh, and Eddie; and his sisters Lucille and Nanny Mae.
McArthur will be remembered as a kind and humble man who gave of himself freely and loved deeply. Whether through a helping hand, a quiet word of encouragement, or the music he played, his life touched many. His faith, compassion, and gentle spirit will live on in all who knew and loved him.
Funeral service for Mr. McArthur Graves will be Tuesday June 17, 2025, 1:00 pm at Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
