Ruffin, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mr. Percy Lee Stephens 67, of 1544 Big Oak Farm Road, Ruffin, North Carolina. He passed away on Friday, August 23, 2024, at his residence.
Percy, the son of the late Wilbur Junior Stephens, Jr. and Christine Lawson Stephens, was born on December 13, 1956, in Reidsville, North Carolina.
He attended the Caswell County School system and was a graduate of Bartlett Yancey High School, Class of 1975. Afterwards he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he was stationed in Alaska, Paleto Bay, California and Oakland, California just to name a few. Percy was employed at Tyco Company in California after he received his honorable discharge from the military.
Then Percy relocated back to North Carolina to be around his family and friends, where he maintained his membership at Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church since early childhood. He enjoyed watching sports of all kinds from golf, basketball, and his favorite football team the 49ers.
Mr. Percy Lee Stephens leaves to cherish his memories with his; one sister, LaVerne Stephens Foster of Charlotte, North Carolina, a devoted niece, Brianca Foster of Charlotte, North Carolina; stepmother, Bessie Odell Stephens ; three stepsisters, Betty Harrelson (McCoy) of Pelham, North Carolina, Sharon Slater of Burlington, North Carolina, and Shinnette Brown (Willie) of McLeansville, North Carolina; stepbrother, Dennis Williams (Dianne) of Danville, Virginia; two aunts, Frances Massey (Billie) of Providence, North Carolina, Lue Bell Lawson of Greensboro, North Carolina; uncle, Percy B. Lawson (Syretha) of Greensboro, North Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and many cherished friends.
A viewing will be on Friday, September 6, 2024, from 2 pm to 7 pm in the John & Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.
Funeral service for Mr. Percy Lee Stephens will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 12:00 noon in the John & Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home , with family visitation 11:30 pm to 12:00 pm before funeral service. Pastor Gregory Hopkins will deliver the words of comfort.
Interment will follow in the Red Hill Baptist church cemetery.
