Yanceyville, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Thaddeus Bigelow of 3444 Marshall Graves Road, Yanceyville, North Carolina. He went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at his residence.
He was born to the late Tom Bigelow, Jr., and Bettie Maggie Graves Bigelow on October 29, 1952. His early years of education were in Caswell County Schools, where he graduated from Bartlett Yancey High School in Yanceyville, NC. He enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War for four years. Thaddeus was employed at Henniges Automotive and Burlington-Industries. He resided in the home of his belated sister Annie, for whom he resigned from his job to help take care of; along with his siblings for 29 years.
Thaddeus, also known as Jim, gave his life to Christ and was a member of Graves Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Yanceyville, NC. He served as an usher for several years and participated in the Strengthen Thy Brethren Ministry. He was a quiet, soft-spoken, gentle soul with a deep husky voice and a unique laugh. He would speak in his own parables, which would sometimes leave you wondering what he meant. Jim was very close to his family, especially his sisters. He was a caregiver for his mother, father, and sister. Jim enjoyed attending church, learning the Word of God, and being blessed by the dance ministry. He was supportive of his nieces and nephews and enjoyed being around his family. Jim enjoyed hanging out with his brothers and friends.
Thaddeus leaves to cherish his precious memories with his daughter Polly Bigelow (Burlington, NC); son Jerry Bigelow (Burlington, NC); five grandchildren: Chloe Parker (Burlington, NC), Tamilia W. Bigelow (Newborn, NC), Alexis T. Murray (Burlington, NC), Jaheim N. Murray (Burlington, NC), and Josiah Tuck (Greensboro, NC); one great-grandson, Lennyx King (Newborn, NC); two sisters, Gloria Turner (Yanceyville, NC) and Sallie B. Watlington (Ruffin, NC); two brothers, Tuggy Bigelow (Mebane, NC) and Alvin Bigelow (Yanceyville, NC); special friend-Tinsey Bruce, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
