Mr. Thomas Edward Williams

Pelham, NC - It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Mr. Thomas Edward Williams 84, of 3690 Chandler Mill Rd. Pelham, NC, who passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024, in the Moses Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro, NC.

Thomas was born December 11, 1939, to the late Willie “Zack” Williams and Lou Della Mills Williams in Rockingham County, NC.

Thomas graduated from Booker T. Washington in Reidsville, NC in 1959. He received an Associate Degree in Business Administration and a certification in Brick Masonry from Piedmont Community College in Roxboro, NC.

He was a member of Bluestone Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a former Trustee and an original founding member of the Male Chorus; he worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber until he retired. Thomas served in the United States Navy four years and in the United States Air Force four years. He was Commander of Post 199 for years, until he took on the role of District Commander. Thomas was also a Mason.

Thomas loved fishing, especially deep-sea fishing, and he loved sports! He went to all the Reidsville Rams Football games until his health would not allow him anymore. Thomas was always willing to help family and people in the community anytime he saw a need, whether with small jobs or saving their home by assisting with mortgage payments - always in confidence. Although quiet and reserved, he never sugar-coated his conversations.

He loved watching The Young and The Restless, he would let you know not to call between the hours of 12:30PM - 1:30PM, unless it was an emergency.

Thomas had a very giving heart and exemplified 2 Corinthians 9:6-8, “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion for God loves a cheerful giver.” Because he was a cheerful giver, God rewarded and blessed everything he touched.

In addition to his parents, loved ones who preceded him in death are his wife Anita Williams, and two brothers, John Lee Williams and James Willie Williams.

He leaves to cherish his memories: three sons, Maurice Williams (Shirley), Eden, NC, Keith Williams, Pelham, NC, and Dwayne Dejournette (Loretta), Pelham, NC; one daughter, Teresa Mae Easterling (Alex), Reidsville, NC; one brother, Howard Williams, South Carolina; one sister, Shirley Coates (John), Fayetteville, NC; sister-in-law, Mattie Sue Williams, Brentwood, CA; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; his only first cousin on the Williams side, Cousin Vincent Abbott, Ruffin, NC. Thomas and his best friend, Woodrow James, were two peas in a pod; you would rarely see one without the other.

A viewing will be Friday, March 29, 2024; from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Fulton-Walton Memorial Chapel 417 Price St. Eden, NC.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 30, 2024, from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm at Bluestone Missionary Baptist Church.

Funeral services for Mr. Thomas Edward Williams will be Saturday, March 30, 2024, 2:00 p.m. at Bluestone Missionary Baptist Church, Pelham, NC.

Interment will follow in the Bluestone Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
