Mr. Weldon Short

Yanceyville, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mr. Weldon Short of 583 Main Street, Yanceyville, North Carolina. He passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Cypress Valley Center of Nursing and Rehabilitation in Reidsville, North Carolina.

Weldon was the son of the late Weldon Short and Mildred Short, born May 02, 1926, in Halifax County, Virginia. He was a member of Yanceyville Missionary Baptist Church and was a Carpenter by trade before his retirement.

In addition to his parents Weldon was preceded in death by his wife Stella Bigelow Short along with his three daughters Shirley James, Jeanette Short, and Diane Smith; his four sisters Mary Short, Queen Short, Fannie Short and Sheraden Stewart; his three brothers Stebbin Short, John Short and Henry Short.

His survivors are five daughters Savannah Hardin of Pelham, North Carolina, Connie Clark of Mt. Vernon, New York, Betty Turner, Helen Turner and Linda Woods all of Danville, Virginia; six sons, Weldon Shaw (Elaine) of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Charlie Albert Short of New York, Bobby Lewis Turner of Green Level, North Carolina, John Turner of Wilkesboro, North Carolina, Greg Turner of Durham, North Carolina and Henry Turner of Liberty, North Carolina; his devoted friend, Helen Turner of Yanceyville, North Carolina; 22 grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.

A viewing for Mr. Weldon Short will be on Thursday, February 26, 2026; from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.

Funeral service for Mr. Weldon Short will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2026; in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.
