Mr. William Yancey, Sr.

Ringgold, VA - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mr. William Wayne Yancey, Sr. age 66, of 280 Milton Highway, Lot 15 in Ringgold, Virginia. He passed away on Monday, December 8, 2025, at SOVAH Health in Danville, Virginia.

William was the son of the late William White and Mary Yancey, born on June 02, 1959, in Caswell County, North Carolina.

He attended the Caswell County public schools and was a graduate of Bartlett Yancey Senior High School in Yanceyville, North Carolina.  

Shortly afterwards, he was employed as a machine operator at Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Danville, Virginia.

He was a member of Greater Deliverance Tabernacle in Roxboro, North Carolina. William’s favorite pastimes were spending time with family, especially his wife Sherry watching Westerns and going fishing.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by two brothers Darcell Harris, and Michael Wallace.

Mr. William Wayne Yancey, Sr. leaves to cherish his memories with his devoted and beloved wife Sherry Yancey of the home; his three daughters Tasha Scott (Ryan) of Graham, North Carolina, Jasmine Pettiford, and Jasniqua Pettiford both of Reidsville, North Carolina; his two sons William Wayne Yancey, Jr., (Stephen) of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Brandon Pettiford of Ringgold, Virginia; his two sisters Gloria Jean Saunders of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, and Janet Broadnax of Danville, Virginia; and his brother Bryant Yancey of Milton, North Carolina; his seven grandchildren TaiJaha, and Tymir Dawkins, Jordan Jr., and Jazelle Stewart, Royalty Clay, Kynlee and Ghakari Willis; his godmother Mrs. Juanita Wilson of Milton, North Carolina, and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, along with his best friend Tommy Echols of Blanch, North Carolina; and many other cherished friends.

A public viewing for Mr. William Wayne Yancey, Sr. will be on Sunday, December 14, 2025; from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.

Funeral Services for Mr. William Wayne Yancey, Sr. will be conducted at 2:00pm on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church, in Pelham, NC.

Interment will follow at Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Pelham, NC.
