Semora, NC - Mrs. Alease Royster Phelps, age 98, of Semora, NC, peacefully transitioned from this life on August 11, 2024, at Sovah Health in Danville, VA. Born on July 21, 1926, to the late Willie Royster and Julia Richmond Royster, Alease was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and friend.
Alease was a homemaker and dedicated employee of Dan River Mills, where she worked for over 20 years. Her commitment to her work was only surpassed by her dedication to her family and faith. She was united in holy matrimony to Floyd Phelps, and from this union, four children were born.
Alease was preceded in death by her parents and her six siblings: three sisters, Christine Royster, Louise Elmore, Carrie Royster; and three brothers, Willie Royster Jr., James Otis Royster, and Robert Lynwood Royster.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Floyd Phelps of the home; two devoted daughters, Katrina Phelps Scott (Henry) of Lawrenceville, GA, and Rachel Phelps Broadie (Charles) of Danville, VA; two caring sons, Camelia "Cam" Phelps of Raleigh, NC, and George Vincent Phelps of Semora, NC; three dear sisters, Dorothy Cunningham of Semora, NC, Annie Ruth Brandon (Herman) of Alton, VA, and JoAnn Chadwick of Jacksonville, NC. She is also survived by six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Alease was a faithful member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, where she found joy in singing in the choir, lifting her voice in praise to the Lord. Her love for music was an expression of her deep faith and love for God.

Alease Royster Phelps will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her love for her family, and her joyful spirit that blessed all who knew her. Though she is no longer with us, her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
Public viewing will be Friday, August 16, 2024; from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.
Funeral services for Mrs. Alease Royster Phelps will be Saturday, August 17, 2024; 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with family arriving at 12:30 pm., Pastor P.D. Medley will deliver the words of comfort. Interment will follow in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery.
