Clarksville, VA. – Mrs. Anita McLaughlin Jant of Clarksville, Virginia, formerly of Pelham, North Carolina was born on July 01, 1957, to the late Charles Newglen McLaughlin and Marie Foster McLauglin of Caswell County, North Carolina.
She attended the local Caswell County Public Schools and was a “Class of 1975 graduate of Bartlett Yancey Senior High School in Yanceyville, North Carolina. Anita furthered her education at North Carolina Central University in Durham, where she received her undergraduate degree in education. Following this milestone Anita earned her master’s degree in education at Ohio State University.
Anita was eager to begin her career as a teacher in the Mecklenburg County Virginia Public Schools after years of dedicated service, where she later retired. She took pride in educating her students, which inspired them to gain knowledge, skills, and values that shaped their future for success causing Anita to return to the school system as a substitute teacher. Once Anita finally retired, she enjoyed spending her favorite pastimes watching her soap operas especially the “Young and the Restless” and the “Bold and the Beautiful” and her evening sitcom the “Andy Griffith Show,” and listening to Michael Jackson. She especially enjoyed sharing lots of great stories with her family and students including ghost stories or “Jack in the Beanstalk” just to name a few.
At an early age, Anita accepted Christ and was a member of Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church in Yanceyville, North Carolina. Anita met and married the love of her life Adolphus Jant, and from this union they had one son Dr. Marlon Jant, where they spent their lives together in Virginia. She along with her family attended Greenwood Baptist Church in Boydton, Virginia.
Our Heavenly Father saw that Anita had grown tired and welcomed her into eternal rest on Monday, August 18, 2025, at VCU Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. Anita completed her earthly journey and peacefully departed this life now joining her parents, and her beloved sister Angela McLaughlin Allen.
Mrs. Anita McLaughlin Jant leaves to cherish her memories with her devoted husband Adolphus Jant of the home; her son Dr. Marlon Jant (Tykia) of Norfolk, Virginia, her siblings Catherine McLaughlin Barnes (Robert), and Valerie McLaughlin Pinnix (Tim) all of Reidsville, North Carolina, Charles McLaughlin (Missy) of Greensboro, North Carolina, and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and many cherished friends.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00pm in the John & Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.
Funeral service to Mrs. Anita McLaughlin Jant will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 1:00 pm with family arriving at 12:30 pm at Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church.
Interment will follow in the Blackwell Baptist Church Cemetery
