Semora, NC - God called home his dearly beloved servant, Mrs. Annette McGhee Jones, of 90 Adams Road, Semora, North Carolina, on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at the residence of her daughter, Natasha Adams in Haw River, North Carolina.
Annette was the daughter of the late Theodore Roosevelt McGhee and Sarah Johnson McGhee. She was born on July 23, 1953 in Caswell County. She attended public schools in Caswell County. She continued her education at Piedmont Community College and Danville Community College. Annette received an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education. She furthered her education at the University of Richmond where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in 2011. Annette’s deepest passion was working with children. Annette accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at a young age. She was a loyal and faithful member of Macedonia African Methodist Episcopal Church in Milton, North Carolina. She was a member of the Garland-Harris Missionary Society. Also, she served as the Church Conference Secretary for many years. She sang in the Angelic, Gospel, and Senior Choirs, and her favorite song to sing was “We’ll Work Till Jesus Comes”. Annette loved to praise the Lord and instilled in her children the importance of always leaning and depending upon God’s unchanging hand.
Annette enjoyed spending quality time with her family. Before her illness, Annette loved traveling with her daughter. God allowed her to go on a cruise in 2023 to Bahamas to celebrate her 70th Birthday. Also, she enjoyed watching sports, especially her favorite team, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Tarheels.
In addition to her parents, Annette was preceded in death by her twin sister, Marionette Waterman and her first husband Calvin Thomas Adams, Jr.
