Burlington, NC - Mrs. Barbara Lula Williamson was born of the late Samuel Williamson and Lila Mae Smith Williamson on November 30, 1937, in Sampson County, NC.  She went home to be with the Lord on February 18, 2025 in the Authorcare Hospice Home in Burlington, NC.

Her education began with the Sampson County School System. She graduated from high school in 1955.  She was a member of the high school band (playing the French Horn) and was also a member at Andrews Chapel Baptist Church (playing piano for her Sunday School).

After high school, she attended Hampton University for a year and then transferred to Saint Agnes Nursing School ( Raleigh, NC).  She became a licensed nurse in New York and worked at Goldwater Hospital for several months.  She returned to North Carolina in 1960, married her high school sweetheart (Joseph Hamilton Fryar), got her Nursing license for North Carolina, and worked for years at Chapel Hill, NC Hospital.

Together Barbara and Joe raised three children, (Brian, Deborah, and Kimberley).  After their children completed their early years of primary education, Barbara returned to the work force.  She worked for more than 20 years at White Oak Manor in Burlington, NC as a shift charge nurse.  She retired from White Oak Manor in the early 2000’s.  Barbara was a woman filled with much love and compassion for others not just including family and friends.  She often enjoyed presenting and sharing gifts and crafts that she made.  She loved to cook, decorate, sew outfits, macrame, crochet and do other crafts.  She loved gardening and growing flowers especially roses. She had a green thumb and could bring any plants or flowers back to life.

She often listened to Goldie Oldies and Jazz music while she worked on her projects.
