Yanceyville, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mrs. Brenda Carol Stokes Alston age 73 of 218 Bear Paw Trail Yanceyville, North Carolina. She passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Riverside Nursing Home, in Danville, Virginia.

Brenda was the daughter of the late Matte Lou Stokes Farrish and Andrew Badgett, born April 05, 1951, in Caswell County, North Carolina.

She attended Caswell County public schools and later received her GED at Piedmont Community College in Yanceyville, North Carolina. Brenda was employed and retired from Copeland Fabrics in Burlington, North Carolina.

She later met and married in Holy Matrimony the love of her life, James Calvin Elmore, on June 30, 2000. Brenda was an active member at True Way Deliverance Holiness Church in Danville, Virginia until her declining health.

Her favorite past-times were going to play bingo far and near with friends and her late uncle Yancey Ray Stokes. She also enjoyed fishing, playing spades, going to family functions, and spending time with family and friends. Brenda will be dearly missed and will never be forgotten.

In addition to her parents, Brenda being the last of her siblings was preceded in death by Hattie Boswell, Vivian Farrish, Carlos Farrish, Bobby Farrish, and Audrey "Della" Farrish; a special uncle like a dad to her, Yancey Ray Stokes.

Those who will cherish the memory of Mrs. Brenda Carol Stokes Farrish Alston Elmore include her beloved husband of the home James Calvin Elmore; her son Tony Stokes of Burlington, NC; her daughter Kimberly Farrish of Yanceyville, NC; her bonus daughter Tasha Elmore Faulkner of Roxboro, NC; her bonus sons: Jerome Lee of Burlington, NC, and James Elmore (Brenzell) of Danville, VA; one grandchild Toni Stokes of Lexington, NC; two bonus grandchildren Whitley Elmore, and Keziah Carter; three bonus sisters Jennie Badgett of Providence, NC, Jackie and Kimberly Badgett both of Yanceyville, NC; two sisters-in-law Alice Lawson Farrish of Burlington, NC, and Barbara Ann Poteat (Carl) of Milton, NC; three brothers-in-law Larry Elmore (Linda) of Bowie, MD, Melvin Elmore (Toni) of Danville, VA and Acee Stewart (Dorothy) of Durham, NC; three aunts Lossie Pearl Stokes Lea of Ruffin, NC, Elizabeth Stokes of Reidsville, NC, and Cleo Stokes of Yanceyville, NC; a devoted niece, Trevia Farrish of Yanceyville, NC; her other nieces and nephews that she loved dearly Rodney, Christina, Rita, Andy, Althea, Tiffany, Rochelle, Quincey, Jimmy Jr., Gary, Ashley, Bobby Jr., Devante, Dante, Alicia, Alexis, DeeDee, and JoJo; and a host of great nieces, great nephews, a special friend of the family Darreall Hamlett (AKA Woo Woo); other loving relatives, and cherished friends whom Brenda loved as well..

A Public viewing for Mrs. Brenda Carol Stokes Alston will be on Tuesday, February 25, 2025; from 2p.m. to 7p.m. in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.

The family visitation viewing for Mrs. Brenda Carol Stokes Alston will be on Wednesday, February 26, 2025; from 12:30p.m. to 1:00p.m. in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Brenda Carol Stokes Alston will be conducted at 1:00pm on Wednesday, February 26, 2025; in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.

Interment will follow at the Yanceyville East Municipal Cemetery in Yanceyville, NC.
