Danville, Va. - Mrs. Brenda Joyce Younger Adams, of 402 Vicar Rd., Danville, Virginia, transitioned peacefully on September 27, 2024. She was born on April 4, 1947, in Pittsylvania County to the late Mr. William Younger and Mrs. Lelia Kelly Younger. Joyce was a proud graduate of the Southside High School Class of 1966. On May 15, 1971, she married the love of her life, Augusta “Douche” Adams. Their bond was one of unwavering devotion, not only to each other but to their family and loved ones. In their blessed union, two children were born, and their love for one another served as an example to all who knew them.
Joyce was of the Baptist faith and a dedicated member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, where she faithfully served in various capacities, including the Gospel Choir, the Senior Choir, the RBC Choir, and with the Missionary Auxiliary and the Carrie L. Burton Circle and Hospitality Ministry. Her life was a testament to her deep love for God and His people.
Joyce's professional life began at Tultex Corporation in Martinsville, VA, where she worked for several years. She later transitioned into a role at Pittsylvania County Public Schools, where she served as a Teacher’s Aide at Blairs Elementary School. Her love for children and dedication to her community was evident in her work, where she was a constant source of support and encouragement to both students and staff. Joyce later worked in the automotive industry for many years, initially employed by Disston in Danville, VA, before joining Henniges Automotive in Reidsville, NC, formerly known as BTR.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her sister, Sallie Clark Tucker, and her brother, Billy Fitzgerald.
Joyce leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Augusta Adams of the home; her daughter, Shara Jenae Adams Tuck of Danville, VA; her son, Jermaine Monteil Adams of Danville, VA; her grandchildren, Jasmine Trotter of Winston-Salem, NC, Erica Clyburn Simpson of Reidsville, NC, Jocelyn Tuck of Roxboro, NC, and Cassidy Tuck of Danville, VA; and her great-grandchildren, Charleigh McGhee and Kinsleigh Outlaw of Roxboro, NC. She is also survived by her brothers, William " June" Younger of Danville, VA, John Younger (Evonne) of Danville, VA, Ronnie Younger of Danville, VA, and Billy Clark (Karen) of Danville, VA; her uncle, B.O. Younger of Riverside, California; her aunts, Almeda Griffin of Danville, VA and Maynell Kelly of Chatham, Va.; and her brother-in-law, Jessie Adams (Betty) of Petersburg, VA. Special cousins, Nethanel Nasi of Ghana, Africa, Mary Ann Nash of Danville, VA, Marie Witcher of Blairs, VA, and Patricia Adams of Pelham, NC, were like siblings to Joyce. Her best friend, Gloria Jean Bennett, was always by her side. Joyce’s extended family and friends include a host of nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
Joyce had a passion for cooking, and her sweet potato pies were famous among family and friends. She enjoyed reading the Bible, solving crossword puzzles, and watching her favorite game shows like Family Feud and Wheel of Fortune. A lover of westerns and sports, she especially loved cheering for the Los Angeles Lakers and the LA Dodgers. Joyce’s infectious smile, her kindness, and her wisdom were treasured by all who knew her. She was a true example of God’s love, always offering a listening ear and extending understanding and grace to those in need.

Viewing and visitation for Mrs. Brenda Joyce Younger Adams will take place on Friday, October 4, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church 656 Blairs Circle Blairs Va.
The funeral service for Mrs. Brenda Joyce Younger Adams will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024, 12:00 noon at Oak Grove Baptist Church 656 Blairs Circle, Blairs Va., Pastor Reginald Carter will deliver the words of comfort. The interment will follow at Highland Burial Park in Danville, VA.,
Joyce’s legacy of love, faith, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
