Mrs. Carolyn Long Lea Obituary

Blanch, NC -  Mrs. Carolyn Felecia Long Lea, a cherished daughter of Caswell County, transitioned peacefully on November 2, 2024, at Author Care Hospice in Burlington, North Carolina. Born on October 4, 1934, to the late George Hill Long and Virginia Gunn Long, Carolyn spent her life in devotion to her family, her community, and her faith.

Carolyn completed her education in Caswell County, later pursuing studies in cosmetology, which led her to co-own Northridge Beauty Salon located in Danville, VA. She was also a dedicated employee for many years at Dan River Mills. Her work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit left a lasting legacy among her colleagues and clients. Carolyn was united in marriage to the late Emmett Lea, with whom she shared a life of love and companionship.

A faithful servant, Carolyn was a devoted member of Sassafras Grove Baptist Church, where she sang in both the Senior and Inspirational Choirs. Her voice uplifted many, and her life reflected her deep commitment to God. Her unwavering faith was evident in her kindness, wisdom, giving heart and dedication to those she loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Spencer Long, Willie Long, Herbert H. Long, Theodore Long, Clarence Long, and James Long; eight sisters, Martha Swann, Mae Edna Walters, Russell Taylor, Catherine Turner, Hattie Watlington, Effie Davis, Darlene Long, Frances Weatherford; and a beloved son-in-law, Dannie Nelson Cobb.

Carolyn’s legacy lives on through her two loving daughters, Penny Lea Cobb of Blanch, NC, and Wendy Hill Lea Walker (Dwight) of Raleigh, NC. She is also survived by one devoted sister, Willie Estelle Jeffries of Reidsville, NC; two sisters-in-law, Mamie Long of Yanceyville, NC, and Margaret Stephens of Providence, NC; two granddaughters, Danya Cobb Diggs (Paul) of Blanch, NC, and Kylea Walker of Raleigh, NC; one grandson, Brandon Nelson Cobb (Jasmine) of Greensboro, NC; four precious great-grandchildren, Paul Diggs III, Zoey Diggs, Brandon Cobb Jr., and Jordan Cobb; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

In honoring Carolyn’s life, we turn to the Holy Bible to reflect on her long and blessed life, her service in God’s kingdom, her strength of character and memory, and her role as a loving mother and singer of God’s praises:

                •             “With long life will I satisfy him and shew him my salvation.” — Psalm 91:16

                •             “Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.” — Psalm 100:2

                •             “Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.” — Proverbs 31:28
