Mrs. Cynthia Jeffreys Obituary

Axton, VA - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mrs. Cynthia Dora Jackson Jeffreys, age 72, of 140 Shields Road, Axton, Virginia. She passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at her residence.

Cynthia was the beloved daughter of the late Jack Charles Jackson, Sr. and Clara Ruth Elzey Jackson; born on March 21, 1952; in Chester, Pennsylvania.

Cynthia grew up in Chester, Pennsylvania where she attended and was a graduate of Chester High School in 1970. Once finishing High School Cynthia went to work for the oldest historically black college and university in the United States at Cheyney University. After working as a librarian for 15 years with Cheyney she retired to relocate to Jacksonville, Florida. She was recruited in the early 1990’s by Delaware County Community College, where Cynthia helped to install the first online accessible library for the college and helped move them from analog library to a digital library. She finishes her career in education with the Chester Upland School District, coordinating efforts to help young mothers to obtain their high school diplomas.

Family time was always dear to Cynthia’s heart. Being Marty’s and Michelle’s mom was a treasure for Cynthia. But, after her union in marriage to Leroy Jeffreys in 1990 she welcomed additional children, Katrina "Niecy", Dionne "Didi", Tyrone, and Joanne. Still leaving room for grandchildren, everyone knew that they became her greatest treasures.

In 2001 the couple relocated to Axton, Virginia. She was active and dedicated in many church activities at High Street Baptist Church in Milton, North Carolina, where Leroy and Cynthia became a deacon and a deaconess. Cynthia also loved traveling with her family and was a passionate volunteer in the community.

In addition to her parents, Cynthia was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Charles Jackson, Jr.; and her daughter, Katrina “Niecy” Paige Wilson.

Mrs. Cynthia Dora Jackson Jeffreys leaves to cherish her memories with her beloved husband of 33 years, Leroy Jeffreys of the home in Axton, Virginia; her two daughters, Michelle (Steve) Earl of Bowie, Maryland, and Dionne “Didi” McIntyre of Camp Springs, Maryland; one son, Samuel Martin Beaver of Atlanta, Georgia; six grandchildren, Cortez, Shania, Samuel Jr., Samiyah, Adrian "AJ", and Zariyah; three great-grandchildren; other loving relatives; and cherished friends.

Cynthia’s warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

The family may be contacted at the residence of 140 Shields Road, Axton, Virginia.
