Danville, Va. - Mrs. Delores Stevens Bradshaw, a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, friend, and proud veteran, peacefully transitioned on November 1, 2024, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina. Born on August 25, 1948, in Danville, Virginia, Delores was the cherished daughter of Mr. James Lewis Johns and Dorothy Hairston Stevens.
Delores was a proud graduate of Langston High School, Class of 1966, within the Danville City Public Schools system. A dedicated servant to her country, Delores honorably served in the United States Marine Corps, where she demonstrated her strength, discipline, and commitment to duty.
Delores was united in holy matrimony to Silas L. Bradshaw. Together, they lovingly raised three children, nurturing them with unwavering love and guidance sharing a life of devotion, family, and faith.
A devoted member of Cornerstone Church of Jesus Christ in Danville, Delores served faithfully in multiple roles. She joyfully sang in the church choir, coordinated the church’s food drive, and carried out secretarial and administrative duties with a spirit of excellence and commitment. Her heart for service extended beyond the church, as she dedicated her career to social work, spending many years with the Salvation Army to help those in need. Her life was a testament to compassion, faith, and selfless giving.
In addition to her parents, Delores was preceded in death by her son, Zachary K. Bradshaw, and her two sisters, Linda Williamson and Sharon Hood.
She leaves to cherish her memories her devoted husband, Silas L. Bradshaw of the home; one daughter, Rosemary Yolanda Bradshaw of Danville, VA; one son, Silas L. Stevens (Debra) of Charlotte, NC; one sister, Angela Renee Stevens of Bassett, VA; three brothers, Donald Ray Stephens, Larry Donnell Stephens, and Barry Stevens, all of Danville, VA; six beloved grandchildren, Troy William Bradshaw, Silas Bradshaw III, Akee Fisher, Xavier Allen, Deadra Ty Bradshaw, and Shatiana C. Bradshaw; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, from 2 PM to 8 PM at the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home in Yanceyville, NC.
A family visitation will take place November 16, 2024, from 12 pm to 1pm prior to the funeral services held in honor of Mrs. Delores Stevens Bradshaw at 1 PM at Cornerstone Church of Jesus Christ in Danville, VA where Pastor Dorothy Glass will deliver the message of encouragement to honor Delores’s life of faith and service.
