Yanceyville, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mrs. Dorothy Watlington Slade of 172 West Church Street, Yanceyville, North Carolina. She passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at her residence.
She was a native of Caswell County, NC, the daughter of the late Moses Watlington and Ruth Badgett Slade born June 1, 1937. She attended Caswell County Schools and was employed with Cone Mill White Oak Plant in Greensboro, NC, until retirement.
On March 13, 1954, she married Ervin Slade and they were blessed with nine children.
Dorothy was preceded in death by four children, Shirley Long, Ervin Slade Jr., Keith Slade and Cherry Slade.
Mrs. Dorothy Watlington Slade leaves to cherish her memories, three daughters, Caroline Slade and Hope Slade both of Yanceyville, NC, and Katina Thomas (Chris) of Burlington, NC; two sons, Robert Slade and William Slade (Marianne) both of Yanceyville, NC; 19 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; special nephew, George Thomas Watlington; other relatives and friends.
In her last days, her granddaughter, Chartiga Slade Martin (Jermaine) cared for her.
A memorial service for Mrs. Dorothy Watlington Slade will be Monday, October 14,2024 2:00 pm in the John & Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.
