Eden, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mrs. Gari Ann Hampton Broadnax 87, 818 Oak Street, in Eden, North Carolina. She peacefully entered Heaven’s gates on Wednesday, December 03, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at her residence.
Gari Ann was born on March 17, 1938, in Rockingham County, North Carolina to the late Clarence Moyer and Celeste Hairston Saunders.
As a native and lifelong resident of Rockingham County she received her education in the local public schools and was a graduate of Douglass High School, in Leaksville, North Carolina.
Shortly afterwards, Gari Ann began giving back to her community by working as a cafeteria manager in the Rockingham County public school system prior to her retirement.
At a young age, Gari Ann accepted Christ as her personal Savior and began her spiritual journey at Gospel Light Holiness Church in Axton, Virginia under the leadership of Pastor Dr. Lettie P. Cohen. Later her steps were ordered to Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Eden, North Carolina under the leadership Pastor Robert Geiger. She continued her walk with the Lord as a member for over 30 years at Sunny Home Missionary Baptist Church in Eden, North Carolina. She served faithfully at her church as a Senior Choir member, and as a Sunday School Teacher. Gari Ann was renowned for her devotion to God, family, and church. Her favorite song after her Sunday morning testimony was "I Am On My Way To Heaven.”
Her favorite pastimes were talking about the Lord to everyone who would listen, and spending time with her church and her family, she especially loved shopping, cooking, reading her Bible, and working her Bible word search puzzles.
Gari Ann was predeceased by her parents, Clarence Moyer and Celeste Hairston Saunders; her beloved husbands Stephen Hampton, Jr. and James Curtis Broadnax; her grandson Mikey Hampton; her three sisters Faye Burgess, Anna Moyer-Dobbins, and Faye Moyer-Cable; and her three brothers Alphonzo Hairston, Ray Saunders, and Willie Saunders.
Those left to cherish Mrs. Gari Ann Hampton Broadnax’s precious memories include her three daughters Sandra Galloway-Hampton, Joanne Jackson, and Janet Hampton, all of Eden, North Carolina; her three sons Stephen Hampton, Jeffrey Hampton, and Joey Hampton all of Eden, North Carolina; her four bonus daughters Debra B. Price (DeForrest) of Eden, North Carolina, Diane Reese, and Patricia Riddle all of Reidsville, North Carolina, and Tina Pickard of Greensboro, North Carolina; her two bonus sisters Rita Parker of Atlanta, Georgia, and Linda Willis (Reggie) of Reidsville, North Carolina; her eleven grandchildren BJ (Tasha), Tyra, Dante’, (Jacob), Tio, Kia, Kristen, Taryn, Devin, and Mica; her thirteen great-grandchildren Ty-Leah, Shae, Khalil, DJ, Tyliek, NiJayla, Dumarius, Jayden, Tyquel, Jaelyn, Lanya, Olivia, and Reign; and her two great-great-grandchildren O-rush and O-siris; her one aunt Minnie Bohannon (Burton) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; her best friend Regina Martin-Reynolds of Eden, North Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and many cherished friends.
A Public viewing for Mrs. Gari Ann Hampton Broadnax will be on Thursday, December 11, 2025; from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Fulton-Walton Memorial Eden Chapel; 417 Price Street, Eden, NC.
Family visitation viewing for Mrs. Gari Ann Hampton Broadnax will be on Friday, December 12, 2025; from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Sunny Home Missionary Baptist Church, in Eden, NC.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Gari Ann Hampton Broadnax will be conducted at 1:00pm on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Sunny Home Missionary Baptist Church, in Eden, NC.
Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Eden, NC
