Mrs. Geneva Kimber Knight Obituary

Reidsville, NC - Mrs. Geneva Kimber Knight, age 93, of 1611 Stoney Creek School Rd., Reidsville, NC, peacefully transitioned from this life to eternal rest on Friday, September 27, 2024, at her residence. She was born on May 6, 1931, in Alamance County, North Carolina, to the late Mr. Johnie William Kimber and Mrs. Sarah Frances Graves Kimber. Educated in Caswell County, Geneva went on to pursue higher education at Fayetteville State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree. Her passion for knowledge and teaching led her to further her studies at New York University, where she received her master’s degree.

Geneva was united in holy matrimony to the late Charles Howard Knight. Together, they shared a life of love, faith, and service. A devoted member of Sweet Gum Grove Baptist Church in Mebane, NC, Geneva was deeply committed to her faith and her church community. She served diligently in the Missionary Department, Christian Education Ministry, and as a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher. Her life was a testament to her deep love for God and her desire to impart wisdom and guidance to others.

Preceding her in death were her beloved parents, Johnie William Kimber and Sarah Francis Kimber, her husband, Charles Knight, and her eight sisters: Molly Kimber, Polly Kimber, Modelia Wade, Magater Kimber, Erlean Williamson, Erma K. Shaw, Nellie Kimber, and Georgia Shore. She was also preceded in death by six brothers: Wallace Kimber, Charles Henderson Kimber, Clyde Roosevelt Kimber, Zeb Waddell Kimber, William Dallas Kimber, and Monroe Kimber.

She leaves to cherish her memory five dear sisters-in-law, Geraldine Kimber, Mary Kimber, Barbara Kimber, Channie Knight Beane, and Effie Knight Andrews along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Geneva's influence as a lifelong educator will be remembered by the countless students and individuals, she impacted during her teaching career in Caswell and Alamance County Public Schools, as well as in Washington, D.C.
