Mrs. Janice Verdell Griggs Pinnix

Reidsville, NC. -  Mrs. Janice Verdell Griggs Pinnix, of 8449 Friendship Church Road Reidsville, NC, transitioned into eternal rest on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC. 

Janice affectionately called “ Verdell” was born in Rockingham County, NC on October 30, 1957, to the late Willie Griggs and Delores DeJornette Griggs.  She was educated in the public school system and went on to dedicate over 20 years of faithful service as a Quality Inspector with Bank Note Corporation in Brown Summit, NC, where she retired. She also worked with Belk for two years, where she was known for her warm smile and kind spirit.

Janice was united in marriage to her devoted husband, Derek Pinnix, Sr, of the home. Her life was enriched by her faith, and she was a proud member of Bold Springs Baptist Church in Ruffin, North Carolina. There, she served with dedication and love in the Missionary Circle, Women’s Fellowship, the Culinary Committee, and the Usher Board, always willing to give of her time and talents to glorify God and serve others.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory: her loving husband, Derek Pinnix, Sr., of the home; one daughter, Sharee Pinnix of Reidsville, NC; one son, Derek Pinnix, Jr. “DJ” (Kim) ; three sisters, Laverne Griggs Harris (Donnell), Denise Griggs Pinnix (Harold), and Jackie Griggs Williams, all of Eden, NC; two brothers, Donald Lee Griggs (Wanda) of Eden, NC, and Mac Griggs of Eden, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Delores Griggs, and two brothers, Tyrone Griggs and Glenn Griggs.

Janice’s life was a testimony of faith, love, and service. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Viewing for Mrs. Janice Verdell Griggs Pinnix will be Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 4 pm to 7 pm at Fulton-Walton Memorial Chapel 417 Price St. Eden, NC.

Funeral service for Mrs. Janice Verdell Griggs Pinnix will be Thursday, August 14, 2025, 1:00 pm at Fulton - Walton Memorial Chapel 417 Price St. Eden, NC, with family visitation at 12:30 pm.  Interment will follow in the Chapel Hill Progressive Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
