Mrs. Jeanelle McCurdy Sledge

Eden, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mrs. Jeanelle McCurdy Sledge age 73 of Eden, North Carolina. She passed away on Sunday, November 02, 2025, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center, in Winston Salem, North Carolina.

Jeanelle, the beloved daughter of the late Willie Arthur McCurdy and Lillie Mae Grubbs McCurdy, was born on May 28, 1952, in Opelika, Alabama.

She was educated and received her Certified Nursing Assistant licensure, where she fulfilled her career in the healthcare industry.

In addition to her parents, Jeanelle was preceded in death by her siblings Leroy, Robert, and Dorothy McCurdy.

Mrs. Jeanelle McCurdy Sledge leaves to cherish her memories with her husband James Sledge of the home, her children Tammi Sledge, and James Sledge, her 2 grandchildren, Monty Donawa, and Victoria Broadnax; and her 4 great grandchildren Miya Donawa, Destynee Broadnax, Mariyah Donawa, and Da’Khayla Donawa; her siblings Willie McCurdy (Nellie) of Newman Georgia, Johnny McCurdy (Sam) of Richmond, Virginia, Betty Torbert of Opelika, Alabama, and Janice Fowlkes of Richmond, Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, her adopted sister/best friend Minister Beverly "Teresa" Terry, and many other cherished friends.

The family may receive visitors at 153 Brightwood Road, Eden North Carolina.

Public viewing for Mrs. Jeanelle McCurdy Sledge will be on Friday, November 14, 2025; from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Fulton-Walton Memorial Chapel; 417 Price Street, Eden, NC.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Jeanelle McCurdy Sledge will be conducted at 1:00pm on Saturday, November 15, 2025; at Fulton-Walton Memorial Chapel; 417 Price Street, Eden, NC.

Interment will follow at Hairston Cemetery in Eden, NC.
