Mrs. Joyce Chandler Taylor

Joyce Chandler Taylor, 94, passed away at her home in Baltimore, Maryland, on September 21, 2024.  Born on March 28, 1930 in Caswell County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Willie Mary Chandler Jeffries, and the last living of her siblings.

Joyce spent her early years in Caswell County, North Carolina, graduating from Caswell County Training School, before moving to Baltimore as a young adult. Joyce married John Taylor and they were blessed with three amazing children. She was a devoted homemaker, a hard worker, and a loving presence in the lives of her family. Joyce played a vital role in helping her sister, Daisy, care for her children, and she continued to have a particularly special relationship with her niece, Mary Alice “Sis”, who was like a daughter to her.

Joyce was a christian and attended a local church in Baltimore, Maryland.

Joyce was classy and fashionable. When she went to events, such as her annual class reunions in North Carolina, she was always well-dressed and stood out in her elegant attire. She was an amazing cook and prepared delicious meals for her family, some of the most memorable being Thanksgiving dinner with top tier desserts to finish the course.

She was predeceased by her husband, John Taylor and their son, Kevin, as well as her siblings, Daisy C. Slade, Gursey "Sid" Chandler, and Hubert Chandler.

Joyce’s life was marked by her love for family, her generosity, and her nurturing spirit. Her memory will continue to inspire and comfort those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Joyce is survived by her two caring daughters, Kim and Kara (Richard), her devoted daughter-in-law, Sandra, her loving grandson, Christian (Fajar), and her four beautiful great-grandchildren, Amanee, Amirah, Aminah, and Asir, all of Maryland; her niece Mary Alice (Clifton), and her sister-in-law, Jane, all of North Carolina; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
