Yanceyville, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mrs. Louise Abbott Simpson 99 of 4938 NC-Highway 86 North, in Yanceyville, North Carolina. On April 13, 2026, she peacefully transitioned to her eternal home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, surrounded by her loved ones at Sovah Health in Danville, Virginia.
Mother Louise was born on June 18, 1926, in Person County, North Carolina, to the late John and Cora Abbott.
At the tender age of six, under the pastorate of the late Reverend T. B. Wilson, Mother Louise accepted Christ as her Savior. She was baptized and became a lifelong member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as the church mother, a trustee, and a senior choir member. She often declared, “I’ve been running for Jesus a long time, and I’m not tired yet.” Her life stood as a powerful testament to faith, prayer, and steadfast commitment to God.
Mother Louise received her education at Caswell County Training School and often humorously noted that she earned her “C.S. Degree”—Common Sense—from the “God School of Life.” Her greatest calling was that of a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She lovingly cared not only for her own children but also for many children in the community. In addition, she was employed at Blackwell Family Rest Home, where she continued her legacy of compassion and care.
In 1945, at the age of eighteen, she married the love of her life, Clarence Simpson, Sr. Their union was blessed with 32 years of marriage until his passing. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Cora Abbott, her beloved husband Clarence Simpson, Sr., her sons, Clarence Simpson, Jr. and Hiawatha Simpson; two sons who died in infancy, her sister Jerene Mims, her six brothers Richard, James, John, Thomas, Joseph, and Felix Abbott, her brother-in-law, Timothy McLaughlin; her sister-in-law, Cora Abbott; Henry and Michael; her sons-in-law, Wilbert and William (W.C.); and her great-grandchildren, Tanajwa McMurray and Davian Simpson.
Together, they were blessed with a large and loving family: her beloved children Angela Simpson of the home, James Simpson, Sr., Charleston Simpson, Eddie Simpson all of Yanceyville, North Carolina, Zachary Simpson (Tammy) of Reidsville, North Carolina, Joan Montgomery (Donald) of South Carolina, Douglas Simpson of Pelham, North Carolina, Cynthia Simpson, Stephanie Simpson, Alice Redding, Silvey Stokes of all of New Jersey, her sister Clarie McLaughlin of Reidsville, North Carolina; Her legacy continues through her 29 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 28 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her daughters in law Lorraine Simpson and Peggy Thomas and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
To know Mother Louise was to experience love, strength, and the true meaning of faith in action. She was a pillar in her family and a guiding light in her community. Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that she is at peace, reunited with those who have gone before her. Her legacy will forever echo in the lives she nurtured, the prayers she lifted, and the love she so freely gave. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
“Well done, thou good and faithful servant… enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.” — Matthew 25:23
