With a tender touch and loving heart, God quickly carried Mamie Alice Fuller Long home to eternal rest on Saturday, January 11, 2025 in the Yanceyville Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. Mamie was the daughter of the late Willie James Fuller and Augusta Inge Fuller, she was the youngest of two daughters born in Danville, Virginia on December 28,1931.
She received her education at the Caswell County Training Schools in North Carolina. On November 5, 1980, Mamie married the late Theodore Roosevelt, in Yanceyville, North Carolina. Mamie was a dedicated worker holding down many different jobs , she retired from Red & White grocery store in Yanceyville, North Carolina.
At an early age she accepted Christ and joined Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Logan. Mamie has held several offices at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church including Missionary, Deaconess, Church Mother, Choir Member, Culinary Committee Member and a Sunday School attendant.
Mamie had a love for gardening, shopping, and she enjoyed her sweets. Her favorite time was at the house with her family enjoying the big cook outs. Her family was her pride and joy, she especially loved all her grandchildren. Mamie was no stranger to anyone that she met; and everyone knew her for telling you like it was. Mamie also loved to travel, whether it was visiting family near and far, or traveling to different parts of the country.
In addition to her parents, Mamie was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Long; her sister, Mabel Carter; and her daughter, Theresa Woods.
Mamie Alice Fuller Long leaves to cherish her legacy of love, devotion and fond memories to her one son, Timothy Fitzgerald (Victoria) of Newport News Virginia; three daughters, Denise Williamson (Errol) of Reidsville North Carolina, Shelia Fitzgerald of Capitol Heights Maryland; and Kenise Carter of Newport News, Virginia; fifteen grandchildren; thirty two great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; a special nephew, Gary Carter; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mamie is gone but never forgotten.
Family may receive family and friends from 2 pm to 5 pm daily at 333 Northmont Blvd., Danville, Virginia.
The public viewing for Mamie Alice Fuller Long will be on Friday, January 17, 2025; from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.
Family visitation viewing for Mamie Alice Fuller Long will be on Saturday, January 18, 2025; from 11:30 p.m. to 12noon p.m. at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Providence, North Carolina.
Funeral Services for Mamie Alice Fuller Long will be conducted at 12:00noon on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Providence, North Carolina.
