Providence, NC - It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Mrs. Mamie Elizabeth Watlington Thompson of 10455 Hwy. 86 N. Providence, NC, who passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2024, in the Cypress Valley Center Nursing Facility Reidsville, NC.
She was native of Caswell County, NC, the daughter of the late Henry Watlington and Mamie Russell Watlington, born August 9, 1942. She was a member of Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church and she was a CNA before retirement.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Thompson; three sisters, Pearl Fuller, Gracie Turner, and Shirley Turner; five brothers, George Watlington, Leroy Watlington, Melvin Watlington, Dave Watlington and Junior Watlington.
Her survivors are one son, David Thompson of Leasburg, NC; four daughters, Jeanette Foster ( Clinton) of Pelham, NC, Angela Thompson of Yanceyville, NC, Barbara Graves of Graham, NC and Melissa Thompson of Atlanta, Ga.; one sister, Lola Whitted of Reidsville, NC; one brother, Dennis Watlington of Yanceyville, NC; seven grandchildren; five great grand children; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Per family request, viewing and funeral service will be private. Interment will be in the Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
