Winston Salem, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mrs. Louise Wilburn Penn Moyer of 4820 Manto Lane Winston Salem, NC. On August 6, 2025, she transitioned from this life to her eternal rest at her residence.
Mrs. Mary Louise Wilburn Penn Moyer was born on September 8, 1937, in Kyle, West Virginia, to the late Arthur Wilburn and Katie Deshazor Wilburn.
Mary was a member of Rising Star Baptist Church of Eden, NC. She devoted her life to helping others, both in her family and in her community. Blessed with a compassionate heart and gentle spirit, she pursued a career in caregiving, working faithfully as a Certified Nurse Assistant until her retirement from Morehead Nursing Center in Eden, North Carolina. Her service touched the lives of countless patients and their families, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and love.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by one son, Douglas M. Hairston; one sister, Brenda Ann Wilburn and three brothers, George Thomas Wilburn, James Belvie Wilburn, and Clarence Wilburn.
Mrs. Moyer leaves to cherish her memory: one son, Charles A. Penn III (Eleanor) of Winston Salem, NC; one daughter, Charlene Penn Lomax (Jerado) of Eden, NC; one special son, Richard Cooper of Eden, NC; three sisters-in-law, Alberta Scales of Martinsville, VA, Nancy Sauls of Martinsville, VA, and Thelma Abbott of Richton Park, Illinois; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her beloved Yorkshire Terrier, “Princess Paris” and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Her warmth, devotion, and caring nature will be forever remembered by those whose lives she touched.
Her life was a testament to love in action, and her memory will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Viewing for Mrs. Mary Louise Wilburn Penn Moyer will be Thursday, August 14, 2025, from 2 pm to 7 pm at Fulton-Walton Memorial Chapel 417 Price St. Eden, NC.
Funeral service for Mrs. Mary Louise Wilburn Penn Moyer will be Friday, August 15, 2025, 1:00 pm at Fulton - Walton Memorial Chapel 417 Price St. Eden, NC, with family visitation at 12:30 pm. Pastor, Antonio Logan of Greater Triumph Missionary Baptist Church Chatham, Va. will deliver the words of comfort. Interment will follow in the Hairston Family Cemetery in Eden, NC.
