Mrs.Odessa Virginia Foster Hunt Obituary

Reidsville, NC - On Thursday, August 15, 2024, Mrs. Odessa Virginia (Foster) Hunt, age 80, of 1653 Stoney Creek School Road, Reidsville, NC, passed away at her residence surrounded by her loving family, after a long illness. Despite her illness, she always had a smile on her face no matter the challenges that she endured.  She fought until the end. She is now at peace.  She lived a life full of faith, happiness, laughter, and love.

Mrs. Odessa Virginia Hunt was born on April 4,1944 in Caswell County to Oscar and Evelyn Foster who preceded her in death. Even at a young age, she knew that she wanted God to be the center of her life. She joined Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church and remained a devoted member throughout her life.  She would often read the bible and quote bible verses.

Mrs. Odessa Virginia Hunt attended Caswell County High School where she met William Hunt who years later became her husband on May 10, 1969.  They were happily married for over 55 years. Together they raised two children, Dexter (Emily) Hunt of Ruffin, North Carolina; and Vanessa (Tyrone) Totten of Raleigh, North Carolina. She was extremely devoted to her family, and often stressed the importance of education.

She attended the Community College, where she received her certification to become an Emergency Medical Technician and a Certified Nursing Assistant. But her greatest joy was being a homemaker for her family where she loved to listen to music, cook and garden. She would also often work beside her husband in the family business, Hunt’s Janitorial Services.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Juanita Graves.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, Kelly Hall (Michael) of El Paso, Texas; Katilyn Totten of Raleigh, North Carolina; and Abigail Totten of Raleigh, North Carolina.  Prior to her illness, she loved to attend their school and sporting events.  Her grandchildren affectionately remember how she would take them on outings when they stayed with her.  They especially remember the tea parties that they would have with her.

Mrs. Odessa Virginia Hunt is survived by her siblings, Loretta Foster of Atlanta, Georgia; Oscar Foster (Shirley) of Pelham, North Carolina; Joyce Ann Streeter of Durham, North Carolina; Irene Foster of Lynchburg, Virginia; and Ples (Lorraine) Foster of Java, Virginia.  She is also survived by her sister in law, Annie Hunt of Sedalia, North Carolina; and brother in law, Columbus (Jackie) Hunt of Gilbert, Arizona along with a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
