Martinsville, VA. - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Ms. Angela Gertrude Smith of Martinsville, Virginia (formerly Alton, Virginia). She passed away on Saturday, April 05, 2025, at Sovah Health in Martinsville, Virginia.
Angela was born on February 08, 1966, in Danville, Virginia, to the late Ivy and Florine Walters Smith.
At an early age she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a member of Apostolic Faith Temple Church. She was a graduate from Bartlett Yancey High School. Upon graduation she earned a Certified Nursing Assistant license and became employed at Danville Regional Medical Center in Danville, Virginia, currently known as Sovah Health-Danville. Due to a prolonged illness, she was a long-time resident at the Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation Center in Yanceyville, North Carolina, currently known as Yanceyville Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center for many years. She was loved by her fellow residents and medical staff, because Angela's naturally infectious personality would brighten everyone's day. Despite life's challenges, she was a smart, beautiful person with a deep love for her family.
In addition to her parents Angela was preceded in death by her two sisters Raynell Murphy and Lula Mae Wilson; her brother Orlando Smith; a sister-in-law Mary Jones Smith; and a brother-in-law Americus Murphy, Sr.
Ms. Angela Gertrude Smith leaves to cherish her memory with her two sisters, Florine Crawley (Michael) of South Boston, Virginia, and Cheryl Smith (Kovacs) of Alton, Virginia; her three brothers, Bishop Sylvene Smith and Barry Smith both of Danville, Virginia and Sylvester Smith of Milton, North Carolina, and a close friend Norma Tanner of Yanceyville, North Carolina, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A public viewing for Ms. Angela Gertrude Smith will be on Friday, April 11, 2025; from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.
The Family visitation viewing for Ms. Angela Gertrude Smith will be on Saturday, April 12, 2025; from 12:30p.m. to 1:00p.m. at Macedonia AME Church, in Milton, NC.
Funeral Services for Ms. Angela Gertrude Smith will be conducted at 1:00pm on April 12, 2025, at Macedonia AME Church, in Milton, NC.
Interment will follow at Macedonia AME Church Cemetery in Milton, NC.
