Pelham, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Ms. Annette Slina Pinchback age 64 of 2485 Allison Road, Pelham, North Carolina. On Wednesday, June 10, 2026, God gently called His beloved daughter from her labor to reward and welcomed her into eternal rest at University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Annette was born on July 4, 1961, in Caswell County, North Carolina, to the late Edward Lewis Pinchback Jr. and Deaconess Mary Pinchback Ferrell. From an early age, Annette developed a heart for faith, family, and service. At the age of twelve, she confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Providence, North Carolina, where she remained devoted throughout her life.
Her love for ministry was evident through her faithful service in the church. Annette was an original member of the Morning Star Ladies Choir, and she also lifted her voice in the Gospel Choir. Beyond music, she joyfully served in the Drama Ministry, Vacation Bible School, and the Praise Dance Ministry, using her gifts to encourage and inspire others.
Annette received her education through Pittsylvania County Schools and later earned her associate’s degree from J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College. Her desire to help others carried into education, where she tutored Respiratory Therapy students at Danville Community College and encouraged future healthcare professionals.
Throughout her professional life, Annette was known for her dedication and strong work ethic. She was employed with Dan River, BTR, Hanover Mills, and later Sovah Health Martinsville, where she faithfully served for sixteen years.
In recognition of her extraordinary compassion and service, Annette was honored with the Mercy Award in 2021, the highest distinction bestowed upon employees within LifePoint Health. This prestigious award recognized individuals who profoundly touch the lives of others and exemplify the spirit and values upon which the organization was founded. Receiving this honor reflected what so many already knew about Annette, her ability to care deeply, serve selflessly, and make a lasting impact on everyone she encountered.
Annette found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments. She loved music, enjoyed experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, delighted in shopping, and could always appreciate a good movie. Her home became more than a place, it became a gathering space filled with laughter, warmth, and love. She welcomed neighborhood children with open arms, often preparing meals for them and hosting creative themed gatherings that brought people together and created lasting memories.
Those who knew Annette will remember her vibrant spirit, quick sense of humor and catch phrases such as “I don’t know what to tell you,” and unwavering love. She was a devoted mother, caring sister, cherished aunt, trusted mentor, and loyal friend whose kindness and generosity left an imprint on countless lives.
Annette was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; aunts; uncles; and nephew.
Ms. Annette Slina Pinchback leaves to cherish her precious memories with her daughter Victoria Briggs of Pelham, North Carolina; her son Darius Briggs of Reidsville, North Carolina; her two sisters Estelle Pinchback of Eden, North Carolina, and Constance Pinchback of Danville, Virginia; her brother Edward Lewis Pinchback III of Danville, Virginia; her aunt Bertha Fox of Richmond, Virginia; along with a host of loving relatives, friends, church family, coworkers, and all whose lives were blessed by knowing her.
