Ms. Cassondra L. Lunsford Obituary

Eden, NC -

Cassondra Lavern Lunsford was born July 1, 1964, to the late Edwin Theopheous Lunsford and the late Victoria Pulley Lunsford at New Rochelle Hospital, New Rochelle, New York. Cassondra attended Barnard Pre-School until her family decided to relocate to Greensboro, North Carolina. The family lived with Cassondra’s paternal grandparents until her mother landed a telephone operator position with L. Richardson Hospital, now known as Kindred Hospital. After gaining their own residence, Cassondra attended the Guilford County School System. While attending Ben L. Smith High School, her parents decided to relocate their residence to Thomasville, North Carolina. In Cassondra’s younger years, she was a member of Cornerstone Church under the l leadership of Pastor Elder James Carter and also briefly attended Thomasville High School. Soon after, her family relocated their residence to Yanceyville, North Carolina and she attended Bartlett Yancey High School, where she received her high school diploma. Cassondra later became a member of Smyrna Church. Cassondra had two sisters that she loved very dearly: Edith Lunsford Broadnax and Deirdre Lunsford-Walrath. She was the parent of five loving children, Jessica Antonette Lunsford, Melissa Janyce Lunsford, Clarissa M. Lunsford-Harris, and the late Thomass Andrew Lunsford, the loves of her life. Upon returning to her birth home of New Rochelle, New York, she became a devoted member of Bible Way Church Inc. She eventually met a man whom she loved dearly, Howard Barrington, and to that union of 10 plus years, LaKeia Breshae Barrington was born. Cassondra was employed by Abbott House as a Counselor for many years and the Westchester County Attorney’s Office as a legal Secretary. After several years of living in New York, Cassondra decided to relocate her family to Eden, North Carolina. While in North Carolina, Cassondra was employed with the Guilford County Attorney’s Office as a legal Secretary and Guilford County Department of Social Services as an assistant to the Hearing Officer, for one year. She worked for Moses Cone Hospital as a Supervisor and Caterer in Food Service for nine years (Annie Penn Hospital). She was also employed by The Village at Brookwood as a Supervisor and Caterer in Food Service for 4 years. She was later employed at Brookdale Assistant Living as a Director in Dining Services and Catering for 5 years. Due to her declining health, Cassondra had to resign. Needless to say, Cassondra was blessed with many talents and gifts and had an extreme passion and dedication to the Food Service industry. Cassondra was an amazing mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed catering, being creative on the computer, and above anything, she loved the Lord. Her favorite Bible verse was, Proverbs 3:5-6. “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths”. Cassondra loved the Lord and was currently under the leadership of Pastor Elder Walter D. Robertson at Monument of Faith Ministries, Inc., Eden, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, William and Rosa Pulley and by her paternal grandparents, Thomas and Edith Lunsford; three uncles, William C. Pulley, Richard A. Pulley and Joe Louis Garland, Jr.; two aunts, Nora McCain and Julia E. Pulley; and one cousin, Joe L. Garland Jr. On Tuesday, December 2, 2025, Cassondra departed this life peacefully after a long, fighting battle with COVID-19. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and forever friends. Cassondra leaves to cherish in her memory: her loving and devoted children; seven grandchildren, Janae, JaKayla, Jacob, Cameron, K’Lynn, Jordan and Taylor; five great-grandchildren, Gabriel Jr., Lola, Lilo, Malachi and Londynn; 2 brothers-in-law, Jimmy Broadnax and Dennis Walrath; 3 aunts, Lola B. Ayers, Rosemarie Garland and Lynn Pulley; one uncle, Ronald T.
