Ms. Doris Virginia Long " Moochie" DeShazor

Danville, VA. - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Ms. Doris " Moochie" Virginia Long DeShazor age 76 of 353 Stephens Street, Danville, Virginia. She passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Sovah Health in Danville, Virginia.

Doris, the beloved daughter of the late John E. Slade, Sr., and Hattie Virginia Long Watlington, was born on September 15, 1949, in Caswell County, North Carolina.

She attended the local public schools and was a graduate of Caswell County High School in Yanceyville, North Carolina.

Shortly afterwards, she was employed as a Security Guard at Nestle Prepared Foods Company in Danville, Virginia. Doris took her job seriously by protecting the employees, customers, and property by monitoring surveillance cameras, patrolling areas, responding to emergencies, and ensuring safety regulations were followed.

Doris was a member of Sassafras Grove Baptist Church, in Yanceyville, North Carolina. Her favorite past times were playing card games including domino's with family and friends, and taking long drives.

Ms. Doris " Moochie" Virginia Long DeShazor leaves to cherish her memories with her two sisters JoAnn Watlington of Danville, Virginia, and Paulette Jones (William) of Providence, North Carolina; her four brothers Earl Long of Danville, Virginia, John E. Slade, Jr. (Yolande) of Spotswood, New Jersey,  Marvin Neal of Atlanta, Georgia, and Gary Holloway of Washington, DC; and a host of other loving relatives, and many cherished friends.

The Family is receiving visitors daily at her residence from 1:00pm to 5:00pm only.

A Public viewing for Ms. Doris " Moochie" Virginia Long DeShazor will be on Thursday, April 16, 2026; from 2:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Funeral Services for Ms. Doris " Moochie" Virginia Long DeShazor will be conducted at 1:00pm on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Sassafras Grove Baptist Church, in Yanceyville, NC. Pastor Gary Williams will deliver the “Words of Comfort.”

Interment will follow at Sassafras Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Yanceyville, NC.
