Ms. Dorothy Mae "Doris" Hairston

Cascade, VA - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mrs. Dorothy Mae “Doris" Hairston of Cascade, Virginia. She received her “Angel Wings” on Sunday, June 08, 2025, at Lewis Gale Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia surrounded by family.

Dorothy, the beloved daughter of the late Clem Hairston and Elsie Martin Hairston, was born on July 09, 1944, in Pittsylvania County.

As a native and lifelong resident of Cascade Virginia, she attended the Pittsylvania County public school systems. Dorothy was employed as a machine operator at Dan River Mills in Danville, Virginia prior to her retirement. She was a faithful member of Star of Bethlehem Way of the Cross in Cascade, Virginia. Dorothy was married to the late Sam Hairston and to their union two children were born.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Sam Hairston,  her son Kenneth Hairston, her four sisters Pearl Townes, Mary Elizabeth Wilson, Lottie Hairston, Elsie Hayes, her seven brothers Ronnie, Jimmy, Clem, Bill, Otis, Odell, and Curtis Hairston.

Mrs. Dorothy Mae “Doris" Hairston leaves to cherish her memories with her daughter Maybelle Hairston of Cascade, Virginia; three grandchildren; Nathaniel Hairston, Tevin Hairston, and Teneisha Hairston; seven great-grand-children; a daughter-in-law Lesia Hairston; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and many cherished friends.

A public viewing for Mrs. Dorothy Mae “Doris" Hairston will be on Thursday, June 12, 2025; from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Fulton-Walton Memorial Chapel, Eden, NC.

Family visitation viewing for Mrs. Dorothy Mae “Doris" Hairston will be on Friday, June 13, 2025; from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., at Fulton-Walton Memorial Chapel 417 Price Street, Eden, NC.

Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Mae “Doris" Hairston will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 13, 2025, at Fulton-Walton Memorial Chapel 417 Price Street, Eden, NC. Elder Derrick Jumper will deliver Words of Comfort.

Interment will follow at Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, in Danville, VA.
