Yanceyville, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Ms. Elizabeth Berger Smith of 16 Penn Watlington Road, Yanceyville, North Carolina. She passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at her residence.

With deep love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Elizabeth Smith, a devoted woman of faith whose gentle spirit touched everyone she met. She was born on May 24, 1947, to the late Orlando Berger and Leary Gregory Berger in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. She received her education in Chatham Virginia and was employed in the Fast-Food industries until her health started declining. She lived a life rooted in love, kindness, and unwavering belief in God’s promises.

Elizabeth Smith was a proud and faithful member of God’s Blessing Center Church, where she worshiped joyfully and served wholeheartedly as the Church Mother. Her church family was an extension of her own, and she never hesitated to lend a helping hand, offer a prayer, sing a song, or share a warm embrace with anyone in need. Her faith guided every step she took and inspired all who had the blessing of knowing her.

Family was the heart of her world. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, mother-in-love, aunt, cousin and great-grandmother whose love knew no bounds. Her  grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she never missed an opportunity to cheer them on, celebrate their accomplishments, or simply remind them how deeply they were loved. Her smile had a way of lighting up an entire room, and her laughter brought comfort and joy to those around her.

Elizabeth will be remembered for her compassionate heart, her wisdom, and the grace with which she carried herself. She created a legacy of love that will continue to live on through her family and all who were touched by her presence.

Our beloved Elizabeth at age 78 joined her parents, along with her daughter Darlene Smith Lea; five sisters Hattie Smith, Lucille Hamlett, Madelene Wilson, Armentha Valentine, and Deloris Robertson; and her brother Jerome Berger, and other family members who preceded her in death.

Elizabeth Smith leaves to cherish her memories with her two daughters Romanda Smith-Graves (Kenyada) and Renee Smith, both of Yanceyville, North Carolina; one brother James Berger of Chatham, Virginia; five grand-children who were the love of her life JonQuan Fallen, Nikaya Graves, Faith McCain, Makayla Graves and Emmanuel Hughes; three special individuals who she called her grandchildren because she gain a bond with them that no one can take away Damiah Smith, Justin Smith and Geneisha Clay; one great-grandchild Isaiah Herbin; a special cousin Cassie Freeman; one special niece Dametrice Smith; a special sister-in-love Gale Noble , a special brother-in-law Stanley Smith (Gloria) whose she loved dearly all of North Carolina; her church family who she loved; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and many cherished friends.

Her faith was her foundation, her family was her joy, and her love will remain with us forever.

Public viewing for Ms. Elizabeth Berger Smith will be on Thursday, December 04, 2025; from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.

Due to Inclement Weather:  Funeral Services for Ms. Elizabeth Berger Smith will be conducted at 1:00pm on Saturday, December 06, 2025, at God’s Blessing Center Church in Milton, North Carolina.

Interment will follow at God’s Blessing Center Church Cemetery in Milton, North Carolina.
