Whitsett, NC - It is with deep love and profound sadness, the family of Ms. Ethel Annette Johnson age 67 of 509 Winners Choice Drive in Whitsett, North Carolina we announce her peaceful passing on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at her residence.
Ethel Annette, (aka Annette) was the beloved daughter of the late William Albert Johnson, Sr and Monnie Lea Johnson, was born on October 06, 1958, in Burlington, North Carolina. She grew up in a large, close-knit family, surrounded by the comfort, unity, and strength that would shape her into the remarkable woman she became.
She received her education in the Caswell County public school system and was a graduate of Bartlett Yancey Senior High School. Ethel Annette dedicated many years of her life to her work as a Lab Technician, at LabCorp and Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD Diagnostics) both in Burlington, North Carolina. She approached her career with precision, responsibility, and compassion. Her steady hands and calm demeanor provided reassurance to colleagues and patients alike. She took pride in her work, knowing that her efforts played an important role in helping others receive the care they needed. To those who worked alongside her, she was dependable, hardworking, and deeply respected for her service.
Ethel Annette was known for her gentle nature, warm smile, and the quiet strength radiated from her spirit. She was the kind of person who made others feel safe, understood, and valued. Whether offering wisdom, sharing laughter, or extending a comforting embrace, she had a gift for showing love in ways big and small. Her presence alone brought peace.
Above all else, Ethel Annette was a mother and grandmother first and always. Her greatest joy came from her family, especially her grandchildren, who were the shining stars of her world. Their voices, their milestones, and their laughter brought her immeasurable happiness. She nurtured each of them with unconditional love, forming bonds that will remain forever in their hearts.
Ethel Annette was a legacy of love, strength, and grace who will be remembered for her unwavering kindness, her gentle touch, her generosity, and the deep love she poured into her family and community. She was a woman of quiet strength, resilient spirit, and profound faith, someone who faced life’s challenges with courage and grace. Her laughter, her wisdom, and her presence brought comfort to so many. Those who were fortunate enough to know her will forever carry with them the lessons she taught and the love she freely gave. Her legacy continues in the lives she touched, the family she raised, and the memories she leaves behind.
Ethel Annette Johnson left a lasting peace. As we honor her life, we find comfort in knowing that Ethel Annette is now at rest, reunited with her loved ones who preceded her in death including her parents, along with her three brothers, John Frank Johnson, George Johnson, and William Albert Johnson, Jr. Her earthly journey has ended, but her impact lives on—beautifully, powerfully, and endlessly.
Ms. Ethel Annette Johnson was endlessly proud of her children and grandchildren, celebrating their achievements, supporting their dreams, and constantly reminding them of their worth. They were the heart of her life, and she leaves to cherish her memory with her beloved children and their families: Katrina Shoffner (husband Craig Shoffner) their children Malaysia Swann and Elias Byrd of Burlington, North Carolina, Samantha Spencer and her children Brennan Spencer, Naevia Vincent, and Kyndal Vincent of Whitsett, North Carolina, and Quinton Spencer Sr. (wife Channaqua Spencer) and their children Quinton Spencer Jr., Charleigh Spencer, Marleigh Spencer, Aayden Smith-Brincefield and Bryden Smith-Brincefield of Burlington, North Carolina.
As a loving sister and family matriarch, Family meant everything to Ethel Annette, including her siblings who she also affectionately leaves her memory with her five sisters, Ingretta Totten (Carlton), Apostle Alice Totten, Betty Izetta Thomas (William) and Carole Johnson all of Yanceyville, North Carolina, and Margie Johnson of Burlington, North Carolina; six brothers, Quinton Johnson (Mary), Joseph Johnson (Tracey), Vernon Johnson (Diane) and Carl Johnson (Michelle) all of Yanceyville, North Carolina; Larry Johnson (Julie) of Reidsville, North Carolina, and James Hunter Johnson (Candy) of Eden, North Carolina; along with her sister-in-law Cynthia D. Johnson of Yanceyville, North Carolina.
Ethel Annette also held a special place in the hearts of her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews that she left behind. She remembered birthdays, celebrated accomplishments, and offered guidance when needed. She also made each family member, and her many cherished friends feel seen and loved. The bonds she formed were rooted in sincerity and compassion—qualities she carried throughout her entire life.
May the memory of Ms. Ethel Annette Johnson bring peace, strength, and solace to all who loved her. Her love remains. Her presence lingers. Her light continues to shine.
A public viewing-visitation for Ms. Ethel Annette Johnson will be on Thursday, December 18, 2025; from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.
Memorial Services for Ms. Ethel Annette Johnson will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Friday, December 19, 2025; at Ebenezer United Church of Christ in Burlington, NC.
