Semora, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Ms. Janie B. Long Stewart of 13778 NC-Highway 119 North Semora, North Carolina. She passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at SOVAH Health in Danville, Virginia.
Janie was born on December 02, 1943, in Caswell County, North Carolina; to the late John Ivey Long and Annie Farmer Long.
After attending the local public schools Janie moved to Brooklyn, New York as a young woman where she worked at Novelty Cord & Tassel Textile and Manufacturing Company for many years. She later moved back to North Carolina where she was a devoted member of Macedonia A.M.E. Church in Milton, North Carolina who served on the missionary circle.
In addition to her parents and her husband Thomas Stewart, Janie was predeceased by her siblings Lola Long, Dallas Long and Henry Long.
Ms. Janie B. Long Stewart leaves to cherish her precious and loving memories with her daughter Lisa Dyson of Roxboro, North Carolina; two sons Alvin Long of Semora, North Carolina, and Tony Long (Susan) of Roxboro, North Carolina; five sisters-in-law Leona Brandon, Marylene McCain, Sally Long, Shelby Jean Stewart, and Rejoyce Stewart; two good friends Joyce Hamlett Stewart, and Lottie Washington; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, loving relatives, and friends.
A viewing for Ms. Janie B. Long Stewart will be on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, from 2 PM to 7 PM in the John & Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.
A family visitation will be on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm at Macedonia AME Church before funeral service.
Funeral service for Ms. Janie B. Long Stewart will be on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Macedonia AME Church with Rev. Alexander Jones delivering the words of comfort and Pastor Kevin Royster presiding.
Interment will follow in the follow in the Macedonia AME Church Cemetery.
