Milton, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Ms. Jill Daphene McCain Sawyer 51, of 1160 Yarborough Mill Road, in Milton, North Carolina. She passed away after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Duke University Medical Center, in Durham, North Carolina.
Jill was born in Roxboro, North Carolina on September 28,1974 to the late James Henry and Odella Brandon McCain.
She received her education from the Caswell County Public School system and Jill graduated from Bartlett Yancey Senior High School in Yanceyville, North Carolina, Class of 1992. Jill was a machine operator for Eaton Corporation, a leading power management company, in Roxboro, North Carolina.
Ms. Jill Daphene McCain Sawyer leaves her cherished memories with her two loving and devoted sons Bryan McCain and ShyHeem Sawyer; her two grandchildren Brylan Henderson and Blakelyn McCain all of Milton, North Carolina; her two sisters Glenda McCain and Kathy McCain both of Semora, North Carolina; her brother James “Bud” McCain (Stephanie) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; her two nephews Bryce McCain, and Charlie McCain; her three great nephews Kiryce McCain, Kaydan McCain, and Charvis McCain; her two great nieces Kamryn McCain and Charlae McCain; her great-great niece Karter Pettiford; her six aunts Linda McCain Stewart, Janice McCain Garland (Charles), Leona Brandon, Annie McCain, Laura Jean McCain, and Lucy Mae Farmer; a host of other relatives, and many other cherished friends.
Jill was especially blessed with a devoted sisterhood of lifelong friends; LaToya Gunn, LaToya Stewart, Tasha Stewart and Gladys Stewart, whose bond began in childhood and endured faithfully throughout her life. From shared laughter in their early years to standing beside one another through life's many seasons, their friendship remained steadfast and unbreakable. They were more than friends; they were sisters at heart, a constant source of love, strength and cherished memories until the very end.
Public viewing for Ms. Jill Daphene McCain Sawyer will be on Monday, February 16, 2026; from 4:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Funeral Services for Ms. Jill Daphene McCain Sawyer will be conducted at 1:00pm on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Semora, NC. Pastor Preston Medley will deliver the Words of Comfort.
Interment will follow in Mount Olive Baptist Church Cemetery in Semora, NC.
