Odell Mitchell

Blanch, NC - It is with profound sorrow we announced the death of Mr. Odell Mitchell, age 81 of 2049 High Rock School Rd. Blanch, NC, who passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2022, in the UNC Hospitals Hillsborough Campus, in Hillsborough, NC.

Odell was born in Caswell County, North Carolina on February 25, 1941, to the late George Pendleton Mitchell and Ada Moore Mitchell.

Odell graduated from the Caswell County High School in the “Class of 1960” in Yanceyville, NC.

Odell was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, in Semora, NC, where he served on the Trustee Board, and he sung in the Male Chorus until his declining health.

Odell was a former member of the Brandon Chapel Masonic Lodge #282 PHA; in Alton, VA.

Odell was a Correctional Officer with the Caswell Correctional Center in Blanch, NC for 40 years prior to his retirement. He also was a Farmer at heart, a Brick Mason by trade, and a Patient Services Assistant previously known as Danville Regional Medical Center in Danville, VA. In his spare time Odell also worked at Fulton Funeral Home under the Management of Mr. John Wesley Fulton.

In addition to his parents, Odell was preceded in death by his one sister, Martha Ann Mitchell; and one brother, Nathanial Mitchell.

Mr. Odell Mitchell left behind to cherish his memories to his beloved wife, Mrs. Mary Virginia Turner Mitchell, of the home; three daughters, Esther Mitchell, Felicia Mitchell, and Beverly Winstead; two sons, Kerry Odell Mitchell, and Zel Tirrell Mitchell; one brother, Malloy Mitchell; one sister, Ada Mae Stokes; his good friends, Clarence Stewart, and David Royster; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and cherished friends.

Due to the constraints of public gatherings during the COVID-19 outbreak:

A viewing for Mr. Odell Mitchell will be Saturday, April 09, 2022; from 4 p.m. to 7p.m. in the John & Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.

Funeral Services for Mr. Odell Mitchell will be Sunday, April 10, 2022; at 3:30 p.m. at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, in Semora, NC. Interment will follow at the Church Cemetery.
