Blanch, NC - Rev. Maurice Levi Lipscomb Sr., son of the late John Lewis Lipscomb Sr. and Annie Dell Johnson Lipscomb, was born on August 01, 1943 in Caswell County North Carolina and departed this life peacefully on Friday, December 22, 2023, in the Annie Penn Memorial Hospital (Cone Health), Reidsville North Carolina.
At the age of 14 (1957) he accepted Christ, was baptized and joined the Hamer Baptist Church where in his later years he served as a member of the Community and Male Choruses, Sunday School teacher and Superintendent, VBS teacher, member of the Trustee Board and was ordained as a Deacon Sunday September 2, 1984. He was called to preach God's Anointed Word in July of 1995 and faithfully served as Associate Minister until his failing health.
Maurice was educated in Caswell County School System and attended Caswell County Training School and graduated in 1961.
After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army and while serving his country, he received a degree in Auto Mechanics.
Maurice returned from Germany and began a 31-year employment journey at the GOODYEAR TIRE AND RUBBER COMPANY in Danville Va.
Maurice was the Owner/Operator of SPEEDY SPREAD Gravel and Grading Service and took pride in providing quality service to all his customers.
Maurice served the citizens of Caswell County and surrounding areas as the voice of "THE AMEN CORNER" every Sunday morning for 21 years on WYNC radio in Yanceyville North Carolina.
Maurice also faithfully served Cedar Grove Baptist Association as Facility Attendant/Property Manager, Treasurer, member of the Executive and General Boards, and also the Board of Directors of Rainbow Educational Childcare.
In addition to his parents MAURICE was preceded in death by his brothers John Lewis Lipscomb Jr. and James Walter Lipscomb, his sisters Marion Louise Sims and Barbara Jean Shearin.
MAURICE leaves to cherish his memory; his children, Cheryl Lipscomb Allen of Blanch, NC, Mario O. Lipscomb (Carla) of Pelham NC, Maurice Levi Lipscomb Jr. of Raleigh, NC and Markeelah Lipscomb of Yanceyville, NC; grandchildren; Roderick, VeCara, DeVante, Martika, and Markayla, 4 great grandchildren; Brother-in-law Joseph Sims of Washington DC, Aunt Katie Sue Gaskin (Herbert) of Washington DC, Uncle Calvin Johnson (Melvin) of Yanceyville NC, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Public viewing for Rev. Maurice Levi Lipscomb Sr. will be Thursday, December 28, 2023; from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.
Family visitation viewing for Rev. Maurice Levi Lipscomb Sr. will be Friday, December 29, 2023; from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Hamer Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral services for Rev. Maurice Levi Lipscomb Sr. will be conducted at 1:00pm on Friday, December 29, 2023; at Hamer Missionary Baptist Church, with Pastor Daniel Elmore, delivering the words of comfort.
Interment will follow in the Hamer Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites.
