Danville, VA - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Reverend Dr. Catherine Morrison Keen of Danville, Virginia. She completed her earthly divine purpose and peacefully departed this life to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 08, 2025, in Danville, Virginia.

Reverend Dr. Catherine Morrison Keen was born on February 19,1940, in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, to the late Johnny and Ruth Morrison.

She received her education in Pittsylvania County and was later employed at Hooker Furniture Company in Martinsville, Virginia, until her retirement on June 27, 1997.

At a young age, Catherine accepted Christ as her personal Savior and began her spiritual journey at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Cascade, Virginia. She served faithfully until she felt called by God to Spirit Filled Apostolic Holiness Church, formerly Pleasant Grove Holiness Church, in Danville, Virginia.

She held multiple positions at Spirit Filled, beginning as a Missionary and later serving as an Evangelist, prior to being appointed as Pastor on September 7, 1985, by her predecessor, the late Pastor Lillie Johnson. Pastor Keen studied Theology at Maranatha Bible College in Danville, Virginia, facilitated by Dean White until its closure. She later earned her Doctorate in Theology from The Living Epistle Bible College in Greensboro, North Carolina, affiliated with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, facilitated by Founder Bishop Dr. Tyrone D. Hunter, Co-Founder Dr. Juanita W. Hunter, Chairman Bishop Dr. J. Rolan Cohen, Sr., and Dean Bishop Dr. Arthur L. Linder.

Reverend Dr. Catherine Morrison Keen was renowned for her devotion to God, family, and church. Known for her holy lifestyle, fervent worship, dedication to scripture, and efforts in winning souls for Christ, her favorite hymn was "I Got My Mind Made Up to Serve the Lord." She retired in 2020 due to declining health from her position as Pastor at Spirit Filled Apostolic Holiness Church.

She was predeceased by her parents, Johnny and Ruth Morrison; her husband of fifty-six years, Bobby “Bob” Keen; and her four sisters, Peggy Long, Rachel Brimmer, Barbara Jean Wilson, and Mae Fannie Hairston.

Those left to cherish Reverend Dr. Catherine Morrison Keen’s precious memory include her two brothers Robert Morrison of Cascade Virginia, and Roosevelt Morrison of Danville, Virginia; her goddaughter Co-Pastor Samantha Coleman (Donnie) of Danville, Virginia; three sisters-n-law Dorothy Mae Sharp of Camden, New Jersey, Mildred Price of Miami Shore, Florida, and Johnny Mae Keen of Delaware; two brothers-in-law Richard L. Keen (Vivian) of Minnesota, and Lewis Thomas Keen (a.k.a. Bodyguard) of Fayetteville, North Carolina, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, her church family, and friends.

Family visitation and viewing for Reverend Dr. Catherine Morrison Keen will be on Friday, February 14, 2025; from 11:30a.m. to 12 p.m. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Cascade, Virginia.

Funeral Services for Reverend Dr. Catherine Morrison Keen will be conducted at 12:00pm on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Cascade, Virginia.
