Richard Harrison Jones Jr.

Yanceyville, NC - It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Mr. Richard Harrison Jones Jr. of 306 Cemetery St., Yanceyville, NC, who passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at his residence.

He was a native of Caswell County, NC the son of the late Richard Harrison Jones Sr. and Louise Mills Jones born June 26, 1932. He was a graduate of Caswell County Training School Class of 1950 and was a veteran of the United States Army, receiving a honorable discharge in 1962.

Richard was an employee of Safe Co.  in Washington, DC before retirement and he was a member of New Zion Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee and a deacon.

He was married to Merial Elizabeth Williamson Jones, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Lula Mae Jones Wiley; one brother, Willie Matthew "Coo Coo" Jones.

His survivors are nephews, Robert H Wiley of Mt. Holly, New Jersey, Nathan Wiley of Ohio, Curtis Williamson (Carol) of Danville, VA.; nieces, Meredith Wiley McGee (Kevin) of Alaska, Ada Wiley of Ohio and Lauren Hardy of Alaska; Goddaughters, Merial Williamson Roberson (Dewayne) of Burlington, NC and Stephanie Williamson of Yanceyville, NC; special friend, Elizabeth Foster of Yanceyville, NC; devoted cousin, Nita Turner of Yanceyville, NC; devoted friends, William "Jitters" Lea and Patricia Price Lea of Yanceyville, NC; a host of other relatives and friends.

Due to the constraints of public gatherings during the COVID-19 outbreak a viewing will be Tuesday, September 29, 2020 from 2 to 7 p.m. in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home with a limit of 10 people at a time. 

 (Per CDC Guidelines:  Facial Masks are required).

Funeral Service for Mr. Richard Harrison Jones Jr. will be Wednesday, September 30, 2020 1:00 pm  in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.  Pastor Clifton Madden will deliver the words of comfort.  Interment will follow at  the New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites.
