Blanch, NC - Mr. Robert Norris Stokes, a native of Caswell County, North Carolina was born on July 29, 1939. He was a loving and devoted son to the late Mrs. Udell Stokes Wimple. He was raised by his grandparents the late Robert Stokes and Fannie Alice Henderson Stokes.
Robert age 80, departed his earthly life, and traveled to his heavenly home on June 23, 2020. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Person Memorial Hospital, Roxboro, North Carolina.
Robert dedicated his life to Jesus Christ at a young age. He was an active member of the Sassafras Grove Baptist Church, where he served as a dedicated Deacon on the Deacon Board, a faithful Sunday School teacher, and a devoted Senior Choir President for 40 years. He cherished and loved his church, community, and the Lord. Robert was a man after God’s own heart, he demonstrated kindness and compassion and was willing to do anything for anyone.
Robert was an employee at Burlington Industries for 33 years and retired as a Loom Technician. During his retirement he worked for Caswell County Public Schools as a school bus driver. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His favorite past-times were fishing, gardening and hunting. He was a member of the Dan River Masonic Lodge #490 as well at the High Rock Hunting Club. Robert will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
In addition to his mother, Robert was preceded in death by his step-father, Harry Wimple; two brothers, Harry Wimple Jr. and Leroy Wimple.
Mr. Robert Norris Stokes, leaves to cherish his memories to his beloved wife of the home, Ada Mitchell Stokes, four sons and their wives, Lonnie Stokes, Ronnie and Rhonda Stokes of Blanch, NC; Lance and Fredricca Stokes of Greensboro, NC; and Michael Stokes; two brothers, Wendell and Latrella Wimple of Danville, VA; and Lewis Wimple of Yanceyville, NC; two sisters, Lillie Mae and Calvin Dixon of Jappatowne, MD; Lucy Mae Walker of Greensboro, NC; his two beloved grandchildren, Lauryn and Cameron Stokes; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
*Due to the constraints of public gatherings during the COVID-19 outbreak a viewing will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2020 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home with a limit of 10 people at a time. Please remember to follow CDC guidelines. Masks are required.
Funeral service will be Sunday 3:00 pm at Sassafras Grove Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Attendance at the funeral will be limited to fifty (50) individuals and attendees will be pre-determined by the family.
