Robert M. Long

Greensboro, NC - It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Mr. Robert McKinley of 514 Leitzel Avenue Greensboro,North Carolina, who passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2022; at the residence of his daughter in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Robert was born on April 11, 1951; as the tenth child to the late Reverend William Long and Mrs. Rachel Garland Long; in Milton, North Carolina.

Robert graduated from Bartlett Yancey High School in Yanceyville, North Carolina. He later studied at Rockingham Community College in Wentworth, North Carolina; where he received an electrical license in heating and air.

Robert’s career as a head electrician provided him employment at Danville Memorial Hospital, Moses H. Cone Hospital, Four Seasons Mall, the Coca-Cola Plant, and retirement from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, in Asheboro, North Carolina.

Robert joined Mount Zion Baptist Church of Greensboro, North Carolina in 2001; where he served as a Gate Keeper.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his three sisters, Dorothy Harris, Minnie Howell, and Dr. Claire Little; his three brothers, Leon Long, Reverend James A. Long, and Retired Master Sergeant, United States Army, William Long.

Mr. Robert McKinley Long leaves his cherished memories to Cynthia Long of Danville, Virginia; their daughter Alicia Long and grandson, Zacharias both of Charlotte, North Carolina; two brothers, Douglas Long of Reidsville, North Carolina and Earl Long of Uniondale, New York; two sisters, Laura Mitchell, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and Amelia Foster (Winford) of Yanceyville, North Carolina; one sister-in-law, Eliza Long of Yanceyville, North Carolina; one brother-in-law, Clarence Little of Hempstead, New York; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and cherished friends.

Due to the constraints of public gatherings during the COVID-19 outbreak:

A viewing for Mr. Robert McKinley Long will be Monday, May 23, 2022; from 4 p.m. to 7p.m. in the John & Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home. Family Hour from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Funeral Services for Mr. Robert McKinley Long will be Tuesday, May 24, 2022; at 2:00 p.m. at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, in Milton, NC. Interment will follow at the Church Cemetery.
