South Boston, VA. - It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Mr. Roy Acre Williams of 1105 Glass Mill Road, South Boston, Virginia who died Monday, November 9, 2020 in the Wayland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Keysville, Virginia.
Acre was born on July 6, 1940 in Halifax County, Virginia to the late Henry Williams, Sr., and Louise Hankins Williams.
Acre was baptized at an early age and became a member of Mountain Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He attended elementary school but withdrew to help on the family farm. He continued to farm throughout his adult years. Acre’s family and the outdoors were his passions in life. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening, and any type of yard work.
Acre was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Sr. and Louise Williams, seven brothers: Henry Williams, Jr., Tommy “Bro” Williams, Willie “Fats” Williams, Charlie Wesley Williams, Clevester “Boots” Williams, Ronald Williams and Wonell Williams; and two sisters: Carolyn Tanner and Martha Jean Glass.
Mr. Roy Acre Williams, leaves a wealth of precious memories with his vast family: One son, Roy “Cameron” Glass; one granddaughter, Ja’Kayla Glass; one brother, Robert “Rock” Williams (Joyce) of South Boston, VA; three sisters: Margaret “Gee” Coleman (Melvin) of Leasburg, NC, Annie Mae Hamilton of Haledon, NJ and Sandra Ann Williams of Prospect Park, NJ. Acre is further survived by six sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends especially Kelda “Missy” Whitehead who was more like a daughter than a niece and on whom he depended on dearly.
Acre was a devoted father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
Due to the constraints of public gatherings during the COVID-19 outbreak a viewing will be Saturday, November 14, 2020 from 2 to 8 p.m. in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home with a limit of 10 people at a time. (Per CDC Guidelines: Facial Masks are required).
Funeral Services for Mr. Roy A. Williams will be Sunday, November 15, 2020, 1:00 pm in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in the Lea - William Family Cemetery .
*Attendance at the funeral will be limited to fifty (50) individuals and attendees will be pre-determined by the family*.
