Russell Tinsley

Axton, VA. - It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Mr. Russell Tinsley of  7926 Axton Rd. Axton, VA., who departed this earthly life on Monday, March 15, 2021 in the Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, Virginia.

Mr. Russell Tinsley was the son to the late Charlie Tinsley and Emma Keen Tinsley, who was born on December 03, 1957 in Henry County, Virginia.

Russell attended Laurel Park High School in Martinsville, Virginia. He also attended Gospel Light Holiness Church in Axton, Virginia at an early age. Russell married the love of his life Margarite Thomas on December 22, 1979; and to their union Shameka and Reginald was born.

Russell was an employee of AC Furniture in Axton, Virginia for 37 years prior to retirement. His favorite pastimes were pitching horseshoes, and watching the Philadelphia Eagles.

In addition to his parents, Russell was preceded in death by two brothers, Charlie and Roger Tinsley.

Mr. Russell Tinsley leaves to cherish his beloved memories to his beloved wife, Margarite Thomas Tinsley of the residence; one daughter, Shameka Latoria Tinsley of Axton, Virginia; one son, Reginald Earl Tinsley of Axton, Virginia; three sisters, Marie Artis of Roanoke, Virginia, Rosa Bell Dillard (Freddie) of Axton, Virginia, and Lorene McCullum (Lawrence) of Eden, North Carolina; three brothers, James “Jimmy” Tinsley (Lillie), Hurtis Tinsley, and Troy Tinsley, all of Axton, Virginia; one special grandchild, Jonaisha Lowe of Axton, Virginia; seven grandchildren; six sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Due to the constraints of public gatherings during the COVID-19 outbreak a viewing will be Saturday, March 20, 2021 from 6 to 8 p. m. Faith Bible Baptist Church, Axton Road, Axton, VA with a limit of 10 people at a time.

(Per CDC Guidelines: Facial Masks are required).

Graveside Services for Mr. Russell Tinsley will be Sunday, March 21, 2021 2:00PM at Gospel Light Holiness Church Cemetery, Axton, VA. Rev. Roy Handy will deliver the words of comfort. Interment will follow in Gospel Light Holiness Church Cemetery, Axton, VA.  (Facial Mask Are required).
