Sheila Wilkerson

Stoneville, NC - Sheila Wilkerson Wade 59, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on September 12, 2023. She will deeply be missed by all who knew her.

Sheila was mostly known by her nickname ‘Petticoat’, she was born on December 17, 1963, to the late William Reid Wilkerson and Odessa Broadnax Wilkerson.

She graduated from Morehead High School and attended Rockingham Community College. She worked at Bassett Walker for many years and held numerous other jobs throughout her career, Petticoat was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church, in her younger years she was a member of the youth department, and she loved playing on the softball team at the church.

Petticoat had a fun spirit with a huge heart that was bigger than life! She was the definition of “Real”. She had a gift for making others laugh, she enjoyed being around family and friends, and she was a very caring person. She helped raise and babysit her nieces and nephews and loved looking after her neighbors when she lived at Norman Park Apartments, as well as others in the community. Everyone enjoyed being around her.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Wiley Wade, Siblings, Gaynell Wilkerson, Dorothy Ann Smith, Amelia Cobbs, Clifton Wilkerson, and Teresa Dalton.

She is survived by her sisters; Charlotte Brown (Otis) of Pelham, NC, Fannie Purcell(Vernon), Kathy Wilkerson, and Anita Joy Wilkerson of Eden, NC, brothers; William(Charlotte) of Eden, NC Ronnie of Eden, NC, Silas (Roylene) of Reidsville, NC, special family and friends;  Tomeca Graves, niece, Roylene Wilkerson, sister-in-law,  Patrick Milton, Martha Meadows, as well as many nieces and nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and a host of friends.

Public viewing will be Friday, September 15, 2023; from 4 PM to 7 PM at Fulton-Walton Memorial Chapel; 417 Price Street, Eden, NC 27288.

Family visitation for Sheila Wilkerson will be Saturday, September 16, 2023; from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church; 607 Stanton Street, Eden, NC.

Funeral Services for Sheila Wilkerson will be conducted on Saturday, September 16, 2023; at 1:00 PM at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church; 607 Stanton Street, Eden, NC.

Interment will follow at Hamlin Cemetery; 647 Creekridge Drive, in Eden, NC.
