Pelham, NC- It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Mrs. Shirdean Short James, 72, of 143 Brandon Road, Pelham North Carolina, who passed away Sunday, May 23 , 2021 at SOVAH Health, Danville Virginia.
Mrs. Shirdean Short James was born in Caswell County, North Carolina on March 15, 1949 to Weldon Short and the late Estella Bigelow Short.
In addition to her mother, Mrs. Shirdean Short James is preceded in death by two sisters, Jeanette Short and Dianne Smith.
Mrs. Shirdean Short James leaves her cherished memories to her husband, Woodrow James, Jr. of the residence; father, Weldon Short of Yanceyville, NC; one son Harvey Short (Latonya) of Cascade, VA; two daughters, Jeanette Dews (Vincent) of Burlington, NC, and Janice Jones (Tony) Coleman of Burlington, NC; six brothers, Weldon Shaw of Yanceyville, NC, Charlie Albert Short of NY, Greg Turner, Henry Turner, John Turner, and Bobby Turner; four sisters, Connie Evon Clarke of Mount, Vernon, NY, Savannah Hardin of Pelham, NC, Helen Shaw, and Betty Turner; five grandchildren, Rhonte’, Brandon, Miah (ZZ), Torri, and Torria; one great-grandchild, Laiell; mother-in-law/father-in-law, Cornelia Gunn James (Woodrow Sr.) of Pelham, NC; sister-in-law, Sharon James (Dan) of Pelham, NC; along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Due to the constraints of public gatherings during the COVID-19 outbreak a viewing will be Friday, May 28, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home, Yanceyville, NC with a limit of 10 people at a time.

Graveside service will be Saturday, May 29, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at Sassafras Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Yanceyville, NC.
