Yanceyville, NC – Mr. Ulysses M. Foster AKA “Sugarman” gained his wings August 2, 2021 at the age of 90 in Spartanburg, SC, where he resided with his daughter and son-in-law. "Sugarman" his nickname was the best way to describe him, just full of sweetness., Always wearing a smile, always willing to help, never uttering a complaint. He was the do it all man of Yanceyville, NC., the contractor, the plumber, the electrician, the farmer and a man of his word!
He enjoyed life to the fullest, always surrounded by family and friends. The beautiful dream home he built with his bare hands was the welcome mat to many as he hosted the best parties or if you just wanted to sit by the wood burning stove and have a chat.
He was a native of Caswell County, NC, the son of the late Willie Foster and Adelaide Blackwell Foster, born May 8, 1931. He was a member of Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a trustee and a member of the male chorus.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Gladys Foster; brothers, Roger and Weldon Foster; sister, Carol Fuller.
His survivors are four children, Ronald Foster (Olive) of Morristown, NJ, Paulette Foster of Wharton, NJ, Tawanda Burris ( Ronnie) of Spartanburg, SC and Derrick Smith (Tichina) of Linden, NJ; two brothers, Aubrey Foster (Loretta) and John Foster (Eva) all of Yanceyville, NC; two sisters, Barbara Redding and Norma Foster both of Yanceyville, NC; six grandchildren, Keisha Smith Johnson (James) of Rockaway, NJ, Quanesha Burris of Spartanburg, SC and Amber Foster of Fulton, KY, Sydney Smith, Jordyn Smith and Taylor Smith all of Linden, New Jersey; two great grandchildren; Brice Johnson and Paige Johnson of Rockaway, NJ; and a host of nieces; nephews other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be Friday, August 6, 2021 from 2 to 7 pm in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.
Funeral Service for Mr. Ulysses M. Foster “ Sugarman” will be Saturday, August 7, 2021 2PM in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home. Rev. Everett Dickerson will deliver the words of comfort. Interment will follow in the Blackwell Baptist Church Cemetery. ( Facial Mask are required for all services ) .
