Vera Poteat Ware

Reidsville, NC - It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Ms. Vera Poteat Ware of 328 Link Rd., Reidsville, NC, who passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2020 in the Duke University Hospital, Durham, NC.

She was a native of Caswell County, NC the daughter of the late Lister (Slue) Poteat and Alease Long Poteat, born October 4, 1948. She was a faithful member of River Zion Baptist Church in Blanch, NC and later she joined and became a member of Zion Baptist Church in Reidsville, NC, where she was secretary, treasury, and a member of the Sunday School R.U.T.H.  Also, she was a member of many organizations: Women Ministry, Downtown Senior Citizens Club, Lindsey Street Neighborhood Watch, Miller Retiree Club, Rowan Association and Past President, Treasurer and Alumni of Caswell County High School Class of 1966.

She was an employee of Miller brewery in Eden, NC as a Payroll Clerk before retirement.

Her survivors are one son, Richard Guy (Angela) of Winston-Salem, NC; one daughter, Damita Ware of Greensboro, NC; three brothers, Harvey Poteat of Blanch, NC , Harry Poteat of Danville, VA;  and Albun Keen of Yanceyville, NC; one sister, Shirley Poteat Dunston (Robert) of Greensboro, NC; four grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

 Due to the constraints of public gatherings during the COVID-19 outbreak a viewing will be held on Friday, April 10, 2020 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home and 3:00 pm to 7:00pm in the McLaurin Funeral Home Chapel in Reidsville, NC with a limit of 10 people at a time. 

Private Graveside service will be Saturday, April 11, 2020 at in the Evergreen Memory Gardens Hwy 158 W. Reidsville, NC. The Rev. Dr. Michael Anthony Long will deliver the words of comfort.
